Prologue
Eva looked at him, as he sauntered towards her. She tried to fold her skirt, as he eyed her.
"They said you were looking for me." she asked, as she flinched. His eyes were dancing with amusement.
"The they dont have a name, well let me see, I called yo here cause I want to see you." he said as he sat back on the executive chair.
"What is it?" she asked unperturbed as she took her seat.
"Well for starters, our dear parents want us married and now they are planning something we have to go with. I mean in a few months now we'll be man and wife." he explained as he rubbed his beard.
"I'm sorry, I thought we had been through this our parents thoughts do not make a happy marriage. Please I cannot be dwelling on the past." she said, as she stood.
Chris took in the full brown maxi skirt and long sleeved shirt she wore and sighed, ever since she became born again she had changed but that didn't stop her from being beautiful.
She was still tall, elegant and fashionable minus the excesses. Infact he preferred her natural look. She gave him a long suffering sigh.
"Chris I'm sorry about all this mix up, that was all past all these things should be left behind. As you can see I'm never going back to being that. Extend my greeting to your parents have a nice day." she said as she left the office.
Chris grinned happily, it seems this new Eva was better than the spoilt one he knew.

Hey everyone, sorry for skipping Ness story, I couldn't write it yet because it is emotionally dark, what I mean is that, there is a lot of violence, graphic moments, rape, drugs and oh...Stockholm syndrome...this is major reason.
When I planned her story, I wanted karma to get her hard, of course till the end it did.
People who dont understand what Stockholm syndrome is, well let me explain in my little way.
The victims fall in love with their captors due to extreme isolation and loneliness they depend on their captors, lose their self will and well it won't be easy to say no to their captors.
Most times in stories the captors do release them or not, whether they do, the victims will still go ahead to defend and protect them.
This syndrome can affect any sex, male or female, its kind of strong like someone used jazz or something. It also happens during continuous rape or sexual assaults, the victims gradually decay to dummies.
I was afraid, the mod will ban me so I decided to skip it, but if I get a reassurance then I will post it here, or else it will be on my Facebook page @Jade Grace.

Chapter 1
Eva sat on the settee, she looked around as she snuck a book out of her bag.
At nine Eva was a bad girl according to her mom, when she was eight, Eva was introduced to the world of reading romance novels. She had visited Aunty Christine and stumbled on the woman's library collection.
People around her wondered where on earth you could find an eight year old reading romance what did she know about books.
Now those were old stories, she usually saved money and then buy old novels in the general Wuse market.
She sat up, as she slipped it under the soft cushions, while her mom passed by.
"Eva have you eaten?, remember that tomorrow is your common entrance exams." Ness said, dressed in a long Indian dress.
"Yes mom, I made myself some noodles." she quickly answered, hoping her mom would leave her alone quickly.
"Nneka, is noodles food?" her mom asked, as she turned into the parlor.
"Mom dont worry about me." she said as she wished the woman could go, abeg she was already in the sweet part.
"I should not worry okay? So how are you preparing?" Ness eyed her as she saw the high stack of books on the library table.
"Uncle Max just came by and we went through some topics I didn't understand, so I'm just brushing through the remaining." she said, as she felt the book spine poke at her behind.
"Okay then, let me leave you to read then. Odikwa, come here get her some of the food I made before going to the shop for me." her mother had left her, and she stood tiptoeing gently as she closed and locked the door, abeg girl must enjoy her novels.

Eva sat up from the bed, and yawned, she would soon be ten, that age that came with benefits, everyone would look at her as an elder person, she would get a new phone and a grand birthday party would be thrown for her.
She stretched as she went to the bathroom, that was the benefit of being the first child and the only girl. She had everything to herself and her taste, her father would do anything to please her.
He once told her if she wanted anyone dead he was ready to help her, her mother on the other hand was just an annoying snappy woman who loved her job more than the family.
She always acted like she was forced or something.
After bathing and cleaning her mouth, she picked the clean uniform that she hanged, despite her parents spoiling her, she was trained to take up household chores.
At seven she was cooking little food and helping to clean the furnitures.
Now she could boast of feeding herself with eight different meals. She was a big girl now.
She had dressed and she went downstairs, her father was reading the papers he was an expatriate lawyer. She had learnt that word from him.
She knew he was a dangerous man but he loved her, how she knew left people amazed.

She ate the warm cornflakes in her plate and went to wash her plates. It was a Saturday and she was going for the common entrance, her teachers had already marked her out for success because of her high command in English and her intelligence.
She grinned as her father handed her two thousand naira notes, and then her mom was already in the car, horning impatiently.
"Dad, I love you, gotta go. Thanks for the money." she said as she pecked his cheeks.
"Bye love." Elliot said, as they hugged and she left.
The journey to the exam centre wasn't so hectic, since she was having the two government and private exams in the same school.
The school was taken on the advice of Aunty Sophia. Her son Chris attended the school and he was just given the Jss3 head boy position.
The school was huge, a federal government unity school, but today only a few students wore uniforms like her, the others came in mofty.
She wished she was wearing her normal clothes, she would have been the most looked at already.
Or she was already because she was half half, that was how they called her.
She had thick long brown hair almost waistlength and shining green eyes, she always wore her hair in braids and her mom ensured she had the latest fashion in her wardrobe.
She stretched her legs as she finished shading the paper, the invigilator came to her side regularly to ask if the sun was disturbing her.
Eva smiled at her and said no, she had spent her second to tenth year in Nigeria what can that tiny sin do for her.
Many students were staring at her instead of answering their questions, she checked her fancy Tiffany watch and saw she still had time before the bell rang.
"Ma, May I use the restroom please." she asked politely, the woman looked at her before allowing her to go.
She went to the nearest class, Clara her best friend was biting her pencil, her face lit up when she saw her.
"Hey what is 12x + 7= 48?" she whispered as she passed.
"41/12, 3 whole number 5/12." she said as she looked around for people who would catch her.
She went on supplying answers like that in some classes, to her friends, then she went back to her seat.
The exams came to a close and her classmates came to pay her with three hundred naira each, no arguments.
She was eating the food her mother brought for her in the car, when Chris came to meet her.
"Your mom said that you are here and you are eating, do you want to get fat?" he teased.
Eva rolled her eyes and hissed as she ate her food, she hated Chris he was the golden boy although he had a bad history.
"You have never changed Eva." he said spitefully.
"And you are still dumb as ever Chris, please leave here, this isn't a place for pigs and lice." she said rudely.
Chris felt like slapping her, but the painful thing was that he couldn't explain why he could not.
He left her, and she continued eating her fried chicken.

the results were out, Eva came out tops and she was given a six year scholarship. Even Chris couldn't boast of that.
The new session was starting and junior classes one and two were already resuming. Chris was waiting for Eva to come downstairs, he didn't know why his mom insisted that she should follow them.
To him Eva was an overpampered spoilt brat, she came down from the stairs dressed in the uniform. Her hair was braided as usual and she fiddled with her bag as they both stared at each other.
They left to the car, each one absorbed in his own thoughts.

"Chris, I'm not going to kneel down for crying out loud." Eva insisted as her other mates stared at her, the head boy for junior school was telling a freshie to kneel and she refused. She was going to get a beating.
Eva looked at him, as his nose flared in anger. "Eva kneel down now." he said, he couldn't afford this brat to soil his reputation.
"I will not kneel down." she insisted as she folded her arms across her chest.
Chris motioned for a cane and he flogged her until she knelt down. Eva was crying, no one had touched her in her life, everyone was afraid of her, who did Chris think he was, she would show him.
She was a big girl, she would stop crying before her classmates call her ajebota. She wiped her face and put on a stony expression as the labour prefect led them to the portion of land to weed.
The wicked boy gave her the biggest portion and said Chris instructed him to do so.
It wasn't until closing hour, under the watchful eye of the agricultural master that she was done with her work, she felt so tired and worn out that she didn't acknowledge her mates when they came to tend their apologies.
She was determined to make Chris life hell on earth, she didn't care how.

Chapter 2
Eva sat up in the class, as the mathematics teacher talked about pie chart. The class was so dry and everyone was so sleepy, she too felt like joining them but since she had clinched the best Jss1 student of the year, she dared not.
They were revising for their junior NECO, she yawned as she remembered that she didn't sleep overnight because she was reading an online romance book.
She thought about the book, she giggled as she remembered all the bad parts her mother had warned her not to read.
That was primary school now she would be going to SS1, she was even a bigger girl. She was also the health prefect too, she held power but not as much as Chris who was given the temporary post of headboy.
Huh Chris that boy was just annoying, cute but annoying all the same every girl she knew was tripping for him.
Well she couldn't deny his looks or those his eyes, or his muscled body or his deep voice. She smiled to herself, some thoughts roaming her mind was xrated, or they have been since her second year.
But Chris was blind to all those things. She sat up and crossed her legs, if only they could stay in one room together, she would try and seduce him.
But Aunty Sophia was always monitoring them, and she even caught Chris staring at her once. The woman's eyes are sharp.
She unbuttoned the first button on her shirt as she felt the bell ring, the man had left already and she was anticipating a nice break time.
Chris was walking on the corridor as usual girls were watching and whispering.
He looked at her for a second before he continued walking to the laboratory.
Eva smiled as she followed Clara out of the class, she was going to try and get Chris. Abeg she needed something to scratch that little itch and he had what she wanted.
She was a naughty girl, a bad girl, when he was bathing one day in the evening, she snuck and hid in the shelf space when she heard him coming.
She had gone to play her prank at him, but he would catch her.
He came out naked and in all his teenage glory and all the naughty thoughts she had read came alive.
He took his time to dress unaware of the Viewer in his room, he later left to play but she had already seen it.
The fire was already ignited and it was only Chris that could handle it.

Clara looked at her friend as they went to the cafeteria, she envied her, how could someone have it all money, brain and beauty. She wished she was like her, but she knew in her heart of hearts that she couldn't.
"Clara, what are you taking?" Eva asked as they sat down, she always made it a point of duty to buy food for her. Clara was a good girl, unlike her but Clara had a big secret that even at secondary school level was bad news to the ears, she was a closet lesbian.
But she didn't judge her when she found out, Clara's story was horrid, when she was six her aunt that she stayed with molested her.
The woman continued this act till the time and she had left Clara's life in shambles.
Clara couldn't move anywhere because no one would believe it, that her aunt a devout deaconess in the church.
She had opened up to Eva, when they were in the second year and Eva helped her in every little way.
Eva was left wondering how Clara would ever feel if she was with a boy, but her brain couldn't process it.
"Fried rice and Coke." her friend said cheerily.
She went to get their food, people were already clearing the way for her, she was the apple of the school's eye, she had just won two international awards just a few months back at a school show and no one dared halt her.
She took the food and drinks as she went back, she met Chris and eyed him.
"Eva, why are you so rude?" his best friend Dele asked.
"Dele I didn't see you there, when the brick wall of China was obstructing me, how are you?" she answered back.
Dele just shook his head, as he looked at the two school elephants, one junior and the senior. But anyone close to them could feel that underlying chemistry. Maybe it was only him.
She strutted out, swaying her hips and some boys whistled behind them, the kind of glare Chris gave them, it didn't take time for the back seat to clear out.
"Sorry about her, Chris I thought by now you should have told her your feelings." Dele said, as they went to eat.
"Man, I cannot if I try it, she can tell my parents, she is a big mouth and she is still naive. Or she'll just laugh and tell the whole school." Chris said, as he sat down.
"Naive? That one that have rotten? Abeg do you know how many times Blessing has seized erotic novels from her hand." Dele whispered.
"But Blessing reads them too, Look she is still a small girl." he said, as some SS1 girls came to greet them.
"Small girl, I tried reading one of the books my guy morning wood and wet dream almost kill me abeg." he said in disgust.
"I didn't know you read girly books." Chris teased him. Dele hissed in anger and began eating the food that a junior brought to their tables.
"So are you saying I should pursue her, if my parents catch me, My own is fried plantain oh." he said as he dropped the cutlery.
"Okay Mr chef, just dont start complaining again about her." Dele replied still stuffing his mouth with chicken.

"Clara, is it possible to like someone you hate." Eva asked as they prepared for sports.
"I dont know about that one, who do you hate that you like?" she asked.
"Nobody, I just thought you knew about it" Eva quickly answered as they left.
She felt chilly, the weather was too cold but she needed the ten marks for her assessment.
She thought of when the school team was playing just last week against St Gregory boys. She remembered with delight as Chris scored a hattrick.
All the school was now at his feet literally except her, she was going to show him pepper, she would beat him at everything he did, well except football cause she couldn't play it.
She was determined and she was going to achieve it and also to get him to notice her instead of acting like a reverend brother near her.

Ness almost fainted as she opened the mattress where her innocent daughter slept. She saw piles of novels and magazines, she was shaking as she heard Eva's footsteps.
She didn't wait for the door to open before she pounced on her and beat her, calling her a lot of names.
Eva thought she was going to die, she had just finished her exams and she was preparing to go to Paris for the long holiday.
This wasn't a way to go to Paris, her head was already oozing blood and she felt dizzy, what did she do wrong, why did her mom beat her.
She tried to limp, as the belt strokes had cut into her legs, she then saw them in a big sack, her novels but it was already too late, her mom was yelling downstairs that Odikwa should burn them in her presence.
She was crying not because of the beating she had received but because of her dear novels.
The woman was going to pay for it, she knew the normal treatment her dad gave her.
She was going to pay, Eva thought before she slipped out of consciousness.
