The widow can be compared to the poor in nowadays churches. She gave what she had and it wasn't recorded that she became rich. Christ did not even complain about her being poor and giving all to the "corruptly" rich religious leaders but instead commended her faith in giving all she had. Why didn't Christ stop her if it was wrong to give?
Why didn't Christ criticise the religious leaders for taking from the poor?
This is why I say that most of the people being hoodwinked by freeze and his cohorts are mere church goers and biblically naive Christians..little wonder that when Christ was eating and drinking with tax collectors people accused him of mingling with sinners..they would also accuse Christ if he came today...

Stop crying more than the bereaved Op if you're paying tithe good for you and if you're not paying good for you. Can we sleep, wake up, drink water and hang our cup in peace bikonu.

The origin of pentecostalism/protestantism can be traced to Martin Luther who challenged the doctrine of the day with regards to absolution from sin with his 95 theses...this was a doctrine introduced to collect levies from the sheeples of the day.

My brothers and my sister's do not let anyone brainwash you and do not let the adherents of Archdeacon Idahosa dupe you.

Worship the Lord in Truth and In Spirit and lastly buying a brand new car or airplane is not a blessing because in developed lands you'd have the IRS and it's equivalents after you.

Ga na udo my sheeples.

It is flawed to say that since christ didn't stop the widow from giving to corrupt religious leaders, we should do same. You have to pay attention to the context of what happened and the lessons taught.
What do you want us to do in that situation where christ denied the samaritan woman her daughter's healing because according to him, she is unqualified. We dare not treat people that way now because the dispensation of Jews and gentiles no longer exist.

Please learn the lesson from the widows mite. God weights every offering on the basis of what your mind can let go and what you can with-hold from God. Consider Cain and Abel. As Pastor Olukoya said, you can give God your all, not just 10%, if you have the love.

On the places you quoted from the ministry of Paul, that will be using one man's style to set a doctrine. Let's have the ministry style of Apostle Peter, John and Co. You should know by now that Paul had a special ministry.

The woman in question put her offering and that was her last penny. (freewill offering)
Now christ was looking at d heart not what is left. He said from the bottom of her heart she gave all that she had....... That penny is equivalent to 2 naira now.
So christ was moved by his faith, heart and willingness to give even the little she had.

About buying a private jet for ur pastor.
I see many of u r beclouded by there brainwashing. Instead of u to tlk abt helping the poor with such money, u buy a jet for a pastor to use and fly for pleasure and tourism.
U mentioned apostle Paul saying something about collecting money, that money oga is for those who has nothing amongst the brethren, the widows, orphans and ministry upkeep.
Christ was moved by her willing heart to give HER LAST PENNY TO THE CORRUPT CHURCH ELDERS Abi? Another idiotic attempt to defend a blatant fraud in the name of religion.

You want to defend your pastor owning jets but the Jesus whom you fxckers claim did not even have a means of transportation then.

The means of transportation in the time of Jesus were camels, donkey and horses. And horses with carriages for the rich. When he wanted to make the triumphant entry he went for the cheapest and least glamorous means of transportation; a donkey.

He could have bought himself a nice horse with chariot but he had to lower himself to the people he preached to, hence he had to borrow a donkey.

After the triumphant entry he went back to trekking like the rest of everybody. Unlike your thief pastors who fly around like bastards

Sacrificial free will giving is the teaching of the new convenant. If the Church wants to undertake a project, there is no harm levying their members, and making them know that It won't open the windows of heaven, but its the sacrifice of being in a sect. Tithing is not part of the new covenant, and a Christian can have full fellowship with God without it.

The truth be told, if you dont pay your Tithe, you wouldnt make Heaven.

Now this is just plain stupid.

Even Jews, who the original tithing instruction to, don't pay tithe anymore. It would interest you to know that tithing didn't become a ritual in the Nigeria until 80s and 90s. So you mean to say those who died before tithing became a norm won't make heaven? The way some people just come on Nairaland and use words. Tithing is a personal thing. It's between you and your God. And on the matter of tithing opens the gates of heaven, I beg to differ. God doesn't collect a fee to bless anyone. He blesses anyone He chooses to no matter their denomination or even if they're atheist. It's not in anyone's place to say God won't bless you if you don't tithe or God would bless you more if you tithe. That is just hogwash.

If you tithe, it should be because you appreciate the works of your pastor and the workers, not because you want the windows of heaven open on you.

A basic tenet of Christianity is giving. Any Christian would understand the joy in giving so I don't think it's much of a problem to give to anyone be it the poor around you, family, friends, those who work in church.

But to say those who tithe won't make Heaven? Please.

My dear, the bone of contention, bone from the abused sheeples, we have been shouting on our minaret has always been TITHE. OP, please be focused. One thing is certain, churches must be funded but not from dubious and twisted scriptural means
Acidosis:
1. Apostle Paul requested for money

(1 Corinthians 16:2, NIV)

Apostle Paul particularly instructed the people to set aside a sum of money that is proportionate to their income. This was a convenient way of collecting the money, that has now become a trend among Christians every Sunday. Is Paul a fat-fed and corrupt Apostle?

2. Jesus watched as the "Sheeple" widow dropped money for corrupt religious leaders but He did not free the "Sheeple"

- Mark 12:41-

At the time Jesus observed the widow's offering, the treasury was managed by corrupt religious leaders, but Jesus did not free the sheeple widow. Nowhere was it mentioned that Jesus instructed her not to give her last penny! Instead Christ was interested in blessing her seed. Ask yourself, would Jesus partake in the #freethesheeple movement if He and the Apostles were around today?

3. If your Pastor sow spiritual things to you, it is right and appropriate to give him those material things you can afford, and Yes, that includes a Jet!

- 1 Corinthians 9:9-14

Remember tithing is difference from giving.

Dady freeze is concerned about tithing, not giving to the church.

The question remains, is it right to pay tithe today?
Bullshit! So I can give the church money or materials worth a full month salary willingly but I can't give the church ten percent of my monthly salary willingly ? Does that sound logical to you?

Was the Law fulfilled by Jesus at this point? Bear in mind that Animal sacrifices, Sabbath day requirements (which according to the Pharisees...Jesus violated) and other requirements of the Law was fully active!

No arguments on this one. However, no Pastorpreneur should deceive people into thinking tithes is 10% of your monthly salary. The scriptural definition of tithes is 10% of harvested crops and livestock...NOT GOLD AND SILVER!

The major issue here is deception!

Let's assume that ten percent of my monthly salary is 10 thousand naira, but I willingly give the church 20 thousand every month, then which is better? Or is it because the ten percent was tagged tithe? So what you and freeze are saying is basically that I can give even more than ten percent of my monthly salary willingly to the church as long as I don't tag it 'tithe'?? Such amazing logic!

I couldn't have said it better.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a pastor boarding planes like a normal person and taking economy class. Most people don't understand that working in the Lord's vineyard is not all Roses. It's self denial and sacrifice. Leaving a less quality life even though you can afford the means just because you want to be like Christ. The only Churches who do such are the Catholic Church, Anglican, and the rest of those Orthodox Churches. Pentecostal ministry is just bread and butter.

So why is Freeze telling the sheeples what to do with their money?

Some of the messages I got from my pastor while in uni is the reason I fell in love with entrepreneurship.

If his message gets me rich eventually, you mean you will give me a dirty slap if I decide to reward his labour with a private jet?
I will get a dirty slap from a nonentity for spending my money when and how I want it spent?

You're not wise.

Brother this is not a matter of whether Daddy freeze is right or not.
It is only a pointer to how money conscious many churches have become and many vices some of these church has invented to get money from member.
This include using threat, bait and mind tricks.
Daddy freeze isn't entirely right tho but he is also not totally wrong.
The big churches he refers to e.g Redeem, winners etc for me are not the problem but instead it is some of this so-called one man churches especially the upcoming ones, Bro I will advised you go see for yourself and you will know what am talking about.
