South South As Developed As Lagos And Abuja by fero007: 12:33pm On Dec 16, 2017 |
told a friend in Lagos that I will be travelling to port Harcourt for the holidays and she asked won't I be kidnapped if I go to the village, I said 'EWOO' firstly she thought port Harcourt was a village 'EWOO!' and again she said it as if I would surely be kidnapped if I set foot in south south. I wrote this thread for people like her who think Lagos and abuja are the only places in Nigeria. With cities like port Harcourt, Warri, Benin, Calabar, Uyo and Asaba, Niger delta can be as sweet as any other place 1.)PORT HARCOURT Port Harcourt, the garden city and the oil capital of Nigeria,is the largest and capital of Rivers state the second richest Nigerian state and home of the Ijaws, Ikwerres, Ogonis, Igbos and others tribes. Full with oil companies like shell, chevron, total, Texaco, nestoil, Intel, slumberger, ciscon and many others, non-oil companies like DSV, Dufil Prima foods, Plastics Producers and others. Port Harcourt has an international seaport, international airport and a refinery. Ph is also a fun city full of hotels, nightclubs, resorts, parks, beaches, malls, like Ph pleasure park, Ph garden park, Isaac boro pack, buguma beach, and lots of other places to have fun. Port Harcourt people are accommodating, lots of rich men and beautiful women, you can enjoy good food like polofiyai, kekefiyai, bole and fish,e.t.c. Despite what the media says Ph is not a warzone, just be sharp, have sense and avoid trouble, rivers is actually safe compared to Edo and Delta states. Amaechi did a great job in Ph and Wike is on his way to surpass him, he should try to spread the development of rivers state beyond Ph and finish the monorail. 2.)WARRI Warri is also an oil city, asaba may be the political capital and capital on paper but warri is the 'live' capital of delta state, the richest Nigerian state based on GDP per capital and home of the Ijaws, Itsekiris, Urhobos, Isokos, Ikas, Ukwanis, Igbos and other tribes. Some oil giants in warri include chevron, Texaco, Shell(logistics office), Seplat, nestoil, ciscon, fenog, ibeeco, neconde, pooc, Intel, halliburton,e.t.c , other companies like DSC Steel company, egtl ,lonesar, Beta glass company in nearby ughelli. Warri has an international seaport, a domestic airport and a refinery. Warri like port Harcourt is also full of rich guys and pretty girls and warri people are very interesting people, they have good food like kekefiyai, bole and fish, starch and ohwo/banga. Places of fun include 911 resorts and beach (escravos), effurun garden park, DSC camp, shell ramp and lots of hotels, note pubs, parks, malls and resort. Warri as most think is not the headquarters of militancy, cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping, if you can cope in Ph you should do almost as fine in Warri after all the people living there are human beings. I would like to say the current government under Ifeanyi Okowa has failed delta state and warri is gradually losing its statues as an oil city and may probably lose its statues as a normal city, with the vacation of oil companies like slumberger, DSV to the abandoning of project like the oleri aquatic leisure park, ogwashi-uku wildlife park, beautification of NPA-DSC expressway in fact delta people should pray for a beta govt or enjoy warri city while it remains. 3.)BENIN CITY Apart from culture there is nothing ancient about Benin city the capital of Edo state home of the Binis, Ishans, Afemais, Owans, Igbanke Igbos and others. Benin is developing daily with oil companies like Pooc, presco among others having their head offices here along with other companies Benin is becoming a commercial and industrial giant. It is also a city to groove with good nitelife, many hotels and clubs, parks, tourist attractions like oba palace, Queen idia place, ogba zoo and others. Unlike what many people think Benin people are not all witches and wizards, there are wonderful people and friendly, so when you meet the beautiful Edo girls don't be afraid to eat their food without doing allnight, you can also travel to and from Benin with the domestic airport and not with plantain leaf. 4.)CALABAR Im nt too sure of the first three but I can boldly say anywhere that Calabar is finer than Lagos. The Canaan city, the capital of Crossriver state of over 15 different tribes, is full of fun filled places and eventsfrom tinapa resort to obudu ranch, spar, many hotels, beaches, niteclubs, parks, gardens, malls, resorts, zoos, museums, natural attractions, tourist centers, oh my God, Cross river is too..... ten much. Calabar hots an annual carnival which is Africa biggest party, come and see beautiful cultures, pretty ladies, and when you eat edikaikong, afam eh oniovo me, nwannem you will fall in love. Calabar also has lots of companies, its a green city and has an international airport, international seaport. No doubt the first capital Nigeria is still its number one city. 5.)UYO Uyo has everything its sister city Calabar has and the rate at which it is developing may overtake calabar soon. The capital of akwa ibom the largest oil producer in Nigeria and home of the ibibios, annangs, orons and others is full of good people and s hospitable environment, resorts, parks........ you know the rest, it is also developing industrially with oil companies, and the oil money is definitely reflecting in Uyo, an example for rivers, delta and bayelsa. Fly down to Uyo through the domestic airport or enter a comfortable roadside danfo for a sweet 10 hours journey from Lagos. 6.)ASABA Delta's capital city may not be its headlining city but is definitely one of its biggest. Oil in the state and closeness to Onitsha has made asaba a very commercial and industrial city, it houses delta international airport, the main of its two govt houses (the other at warri), many companies, as well as Beaches, parks, hotels and niteclubs. I know all south south ladies are beautiful, but the girls of asaba are the crown jewels, in my opinion, after imo girls, there are the next finest girls in Nigeria. Come to asaba if you love beautiful african women(you understand na). Special recognition for yenagoa, which although not as develop as these others is too developed to be called a village. If you are not still convinced to follow me to Niger delta this Xmas maybe these pics will convince you. |

Calabar and Uyo I agree are very developed to a degree but Port Harcourt is a shadow of what it really should have been. 1 Like |
