It's a frequency issue. The phone is made for Nigerian frequency of 900/1800 MHz spectrum while in the US, they use 850 MHZ and 1900 MHZ in Canada .

Just get another phone cos it won't work.
That is why some American phones don't work in Nigeria too.

I use a Techno Camon 9 Phone but presently I am unable to use this phone in the USA. I got the mobile phone from Nigeria where it worked perfectly with my cellular lines.

The SIM CARD networks (MTN & GLO) where expected to roam here either to T-MOBILE or AT & T, unfortunately it didnt roam to any of these lines. I tried using other cellular

network SIM CARDS on the mobile, but the issue still persist even when I tried manually searching for network, it says NO NETWORK AVAILABLE (as shown in attached).

​The phone doesnt have a GSM network, all I can find is 2G to 4G.

Kindly assist to help on any possible way I can unlock or resolve this issue. My wife also encounters the same issue with her Techno Phone W5.

The US uses a different bandwidth frequency which is different from that which is used in UK and also in China. UK phones can work in Nigeria because we have the same bandwidth. US phones can't also work here in Nigeria.

The US, Canada and their protectorates use CDMA code division multiple access technology which operate on different frequencies from that of Nigeria and Europe which are GSM global system for mobiles. Very few networks use GSM in the US and Canada. E.g AT&T in d US and Roger in Canada.

You should be able to roam on those two networks.
Call mtn or glo customer care on the following numbers so that they can actually tell you the roaming agreement and if you are even authorised to roam by your home network. They will also know if your mobile device has compactibility issues too

There are 4 major carriers in the US. 2 of them use GSM. Combined there is more GSM than CDMA here. Let's not give incorrect information.

For LTE the primary bands here are 2/4/5/12/17. Even the cheap sub $50 phones sold here will have all these 2G/3G/4G bands used here. And at a minimum, they will have the 2G/3G bands used outside the US.

I see a lot of incorrect info given here:
- There is no phone sold in the US in the last 12 years or so that will not work in Nigeria. Since all phones sold since then have always had the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM bands.
- both MTN and GLO (I have had both since their inception and they've always worked here) allow roaming anywhere in the US. So with the right frequency, it should work in any US city. Roaming is not by city as someone incorrectly posted.

People use Tecno and Infinix in US. Have couple of people, mostly the JJCs who happen to be using it pending when things would settle for them and it works (However, that doesn't rule out giving them issues based on say na chinco later). But it works. The Ops variant might differ. As I said earlier, he should check the frequency band viz a viz the carrier from the link I gave him. It might work with another carrier.

I read the roaming part alongside that of USA phones not working in Nigeria and I just shook my head. Naija with oversabi things. I still used my MTN line called naija 2 days ago. I once used US phone in naija. I just didn't bother to refute it. Don tire of seeing people dishing out fallacies on net everytime WITH AUTHORITY.

Back in the days of flip phones, my AT&T Motorola v551, RAZR, etc. all worked in Nigeria. And that was donkey years ago! And someone is posting about US phones not working in Nigeria. Just smh...

Ignorant how? Do you know the network he's using? How does Lyca solve the issue? Even If he was using Metro pcs and you asked him to change to Lyca it won't still solve any problem. Unless he changes to like AT&T from T-mobile or vice versa or any network with variations in frequency band from his current one.

Not a phone person......but I know you think your ehmmm....Techno is the best..... take out the battery...store it separate from the phone..pack it in a box ...and set it up again I c and whenever you go back home. As advised before...go to a Metro PCS store.... they have veryyyy cheap phones...and veryyyy low flat rate monthly plans. I can bet my life...the cheapest of their cheap phones is wayyyy better that what you have....at least...you'll get to text and falk till you drop.
