United nations through their Instagram handle un-water writes

"Do you know that an estimated 20% of the world's aquifers is being over-exploited leading to serious consequences such as land subsidence and saltwater intrusion.
But, a paradigm shift is taking place with ecosystem being recognised as an integral part of development solutions. This reflects the steps being taken towards better integrated water resources management and therefore more sustainable development. "
