OreMI22:My question was whether there were cases where those lights are installed without the ILS, because the lights are usually part of the precision approach. Does this airport have the CAT 2 ILS or will that come later? I disagree with your last point. CAT3 has auto land, and pilots may feel intimidated by it. |

Faithful007: Yes, Anambra international airport has CAT2 ILS and CAT2 lighting systems. Any other question? 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Pass11:He is building a standard Olympic pitch without compromising the quality of work there, which is most important, incoming governor will construct stands, above places you mentioned are just local pitches only ignorant mind will compare ongoing Awka pitch to any stadium pitches in southeast. Enyimba pitch isn't Olympic pitch, there is no track and field, Enugu is old pitch, what he is building is Olympic stadium with standard floodlights and scoreboard, and will be completed soon. 4 Likes 1 Share

Faithful007:Nwokem, Since you have data to argue pointlessly, why don't you just use it to research answers to your question? Auto landing, a function of autopilot is a feature in ALL modern planes to utilize ILS Categories 2 or 3 in an airport to safely land the plane in the touchdown zone of the runway without any input from the pilot. The visual orientation of the correct glide path by the pilot using the PAPI lights is what ILS CAT2 OR 3 will automatically orient the plane computers in the correct glide path to the touchdown zone without any input from the pilot in auto landing procedures. In fact most pilots love to use the auto landing feature of the ILS CAT 2 OR CAT 3 airports in good, daylight weather because it helps them to test the calibration of the system and be sure it guides the plane computers to the safe touchdown zone of the runway. Incase they have to use auto landing feature of their plane in that airport in very bad weather with poor visibility. Just google how ILS CATEGORIES 2 and 3 work and what are PAPI lights and get the information yourself on how the ILS systems work for both visual landing by the pilot or auto landing by plane computers using the ILS guidance . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeELh0kMSIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f546pl8J3Jw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUjnWSzAirQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1wtpojtbJc These videos will answer your questions in practical terms if you take the time to fully watch them. They deal with the various aspects of your question i.e. ILS systems, landing light, PAPI light for visual assistance to pilots to estimate their approach height, and the principle of auto-landing by airplanes. The pilot in the first video did a good job explaining how ILS systems guide a pilot to the runway. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

That's why there have been appeals to Nigerians and Igbos to enroll in aviation schools and not only reading engineering in local universities. Hopefully the aviation school by Air Peace will attract more people instead of going to Ethiopia to learn civil aviation . If i were younger, i would have enrolled in a school to become a certified civil aviation pilot . The pay us much better and tge chances of employment are much higher 7 Likes |

OreMI22: If these landing lights were enforced in all airports, the plane that crashed in Emene in 1983 killing Onoh's daughters due to pilot not seeing the runway in bad weather and not having any electronic guidiance to the location of the runway would never have happened. That is why Obiano is such a great leader because he hates to cut corners. Others would readily build this airport and cleverly omit to spend money on landing lights and ILS systems. Since nobody would even notice until a plane crashed due to bad weather and absence of instrument landing systems to assist the pilot in safely locating and landing on the runway 9 Likes 2 Shares |

It is a smart international airport, even the arrival/departure seats have USB charging ports. They made sure that they put everything that's truly required of an international airport in place. 9 Likes

Dump Truck Collides With Metal Barricade At Amawbia Flyover By Blessing Uchendu (ABS Reporter) A dump truck belonging to an unnamed construction company has collided with the heavy metal barricade at the north end of Amawbia flyover. The truck also pulled down the heavy barricade, erecetd by the Anambra State Government to dissuade heavy duty vehicles from using the flyover. Though no casualty was recorded from the incident, witnesses say that the driver of the vehicle in question might have tried to force his way through the flyover, thinking that his truck could scale through unhampered. Men of the Nigeria Police Force as well as those from the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, were also seen trying to maintain peace and traffic issues at the scene. The Amawbia flyover is one of three high level flyovers constructed by Governor Willie Obiano in Awka his first term, to ease traffic and give Awka the right architectural structure worthy of a twenty-first century city.

investnow2013:Let me get this straight. "They erected a barricade to stop heavy duty vehicles from using a bridge. Then after seeing the barricade, you carried your heavy duty truck and pulled the barricade down" This is a kind of serious offense that deserves capital punishment. This is a slap on the face of the entire citizens, not just the governor. Is the driver still standing? |

Rocksvibes234: No issue bro Forget state creation Ebonyi and anambra we are still one, The thing here is Ebonyi is not financially strong like other south east state, the little the have, the government economically managed it ( by the virtue of the governor being an engineers reducing contractor cost) in carrying out a lot of massive product, but the fact remains building the airport with a very low amount is not the problem, the real problem The are facing is equipping it If you read the letter well he was only appealing for funds to equip the airport which will be too hard for a state like Ebonyi, (the governor too doesn't want to Borrow loans so that the upcoming government will suffer paying bck) Am not from Ebonyi But let give it up for them The man really tried, this are the type of governor we need in every eastern state) Obiano too tried But imagine what umhia would have done if he has the type of funds anambra has) 14 Likes |

Rocksvibes234: Lol....the real white elephant project bites the dust. It's very sad though. I wish Umahi managed well to decrease the proportion of the airport. He was building the largest terminal building in Nigeria to handle 5 million passengers a year? For who to use? That is where he got it all wrong. He could have made the project a modest municipal airport to serve the capital city and surrounding towns. Part of the reason Obiano succeeded was because he focussed on the right equipment and size of the terminal building. Of course in the future, a second terminal building could be built close to the current one. But the genius was to design a manageable first terminal that could be quickly completed and functional. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
