The goal is sports development not throwing away money. This is good enough for SPORTS DEVELOPMENT but it should be renamed Awka SPORTS COMPLEX and an indoor multipurpose arena should be built on its southern side for indoor Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Handball, Table Tennis, Judo, Taekwondo and boxing. 2 Outdoor reinforced concrete courts should be built on its north western side for outdoor tennis/basketball with a sandpit for volleyball or beach football.

They should arrange to rent out the facilities for secondary school teams and institute a low gate fee for sports and fitness enthusiasts for upkeep and maintenance.

Definitely not this present ANSG leadership, and you know that.

Lol.... the dude must still be harboring hope of how much he'll make and a bigger private jet he'll buy by the time he sells the airport to one of his cronies under the guise of privatization. God pass all of them.

But, why didn't the press interview him on his experience and if he thought the project was viable? grin grin grin

Well, Willie Obiano has less than 90 days left to be in office. It does not make sense to start launching any new projects. It's the trick used by previous administrations to launch new projects at the twilight of their term, and then the incoming administration will do the heavy lifting of finishing them. Else, they will be smeared as being bad people. Let Soludo decide his own priorities.

What Willie Obiano is doing is the right thing. Concentrate on finishing your legacy projects and let the new administration design their own agenda and their own legacy projects.

As for the refuse dumps in Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, and other cities, I agree with you that those given the contract to clear refuse from our streets be held accountable. I think the government has been too soft on the refuse collection companies. I have recently seen a lot of videos where refuse was allowed to take over some major roads. The state government should declare this as an unacceptable situation and sanction the erring refuse contractors to make them sit up.

First Presidential Jet Lands At Anambra Airport

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri has played host to its first ever Presidential aircraft.

The Presidential Jet-A Challenger Jet had the Minister for Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige on board accompanied by friends and business people.

They were recieved by the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor and others.

The aircraft labeled landed at exactly 12:23 pm and is bigger than the aircraft earlier authorised to take off and land through Anambra route.

The airport has continued to make history attracting large volume of traffic since it was built and commissioned by Governor Willie Obiano-led administration.

Senator Ngige said he was highly impressed that in keeping to his words, Governor Obiano delivered an airport to ndi Anambra which seemed to be a tall dream before now.

While exposing the economic benefits as enormous, the Senator said that with the airport in place, Anambra has been placed on the world map as such, the socio-economic benefits will help develop the state.

The Senator who said that the airport was built to take the biggest airplane in the world, expressed optimism that soon, bigger planes and airline operators will be authorised to operate the route.

ABS gathered that since 7th December, 2021, over two thousand passengers have passed through the airport.

The funny thing about Anambra Airport is no matter how much you hate Obiano you will still end up using the airport, shamelessly. Now that’s a legacy project. Peter Obi who swore Obiano did nothing will soon eat the humble pie like others.
What is left now is for the project to be named after Obiano.

Onwa landed in his own jet. One thing about Ngige is that after his first attempt to enter government through the backdoor, he has consistently opposed wuruwuru.

He was one of the few that publicly spoke out that Andy Ubah's methods of writing results instead of courting the grassroots would fail. He was right.

He made sure to underscore the point that he was the one that first procured the land for the airport. This is what happens when you play some positive role in the development of your state no matter how little. You can always proudly say, I did something to contribute to the development when I was there as the governor!. Unlike someone who also landed today at the airport that could not speak because all he had ever contributed to the state was the kidnapping of the governor, burning down the government house, ABS etc and selling the ONLY state-owned hotel "Ikenga Hotels Awka"

I can only imagine the pride when Obiano will visit Anambra state in the future, and list his numerous positive contributions to the development of the state when he was the governor! Perhaps he would be coming to attend a conference being hosted at the Awka International Convention Center!
