Human beings are generally judgemental. It takes a man or woman of wisdom and maturity to refrain from making quick assertions before duly studying a situation or an individual. In life, we tend to be more lenient with ourselves than with other people. We’ll rather make excuses for our misdeeds than let other people’s shortcomings go unnoticed. The Good Book says ‘first remove the beam in your eye, before you can see clearly to remove the mote out of your brother’s eye’. This implies that in actual fact, we have more, a lot more ‘misdeeds’ which we try to cover up than the few we are quick to observe in other people.
