The Judge who gave the ruling after agreed with prosecutions submission that the accused were not entitled to bail due to the nature of the offense.

The defense team led by Barr. Okechukwu asked the court to grant bail to their client by considering article 13(6)(b) that presumed the accused person is innocent until proven guilty by the court.

However, the prosecutor strongly objected the request on the ground that, the accused persons are not entitled to bail as they are facing first-degree murder charge which are not bailable.

In the case, Mr. Akpunonu is separately facing 27 counts. According to prosecution, the South African Fraud Prevention Service (SAFPS) filled numerous petitions against the suspect as he was allegedly involved in many cases of forgery, drug trafficking, fraud, assassination, kidnapping and murder cases in South African, recently masterminded in killing one Mr. Ekene Eminike (a k a Tentewa) who allegedly shoot dead in South Africa last week by the suspected gang men called "Great Men" (Obrocho's Gang men)http://www.newslinkngr.com/2017/12/ozubulu-massacre-drama-in-court-as.html
