How To Stop Your Mobile Data Plan From Depleting So Fast by scapelli(m): 11:15am On Dec 24, 2017 |
Hey Friends, Often times you hear people here say they bought x Gigs data plan from one of the GSM networks and next thing they know, the data is almost gone without them doing downloads. They seem to imply that some networks chew up your data plan faster than the others. Or maybe the networks really don't give you the "x" Gigs of data you purchased from them (maybe they give you a fraction of the data plan that you paid them for, you can't tell). One thing is for sure, you can't really trust what the networks here tell you. So what can you do to protect yourself and the MB's or GB's of data you bought from them with your hard-earned money since the networks won't help you? Start by doing the following regularly: 1. Switch off your mobile data connection when you are not actively using it. This is very important. Most people don't know this, but majority of the apps installed on your phone are quietly sending information to/fro the Internet and chewing up your data plan balance when you leave your mobile data connection open and you are not actively using it. Once you learn this habit, you will see your data plan start to last longer. 2. Ensure that you don't leave mobile hotspot or tethering of your phone turned on all the time and unprotected with a password. Sure, it's nice to hotspot/tether your phone and share mobile data connection with friends and family so they can browse but remember to turn it off afterwards. If you forget to turn it off you are inviting strangers nearby to connect to it and deplete your data plan. You have no idea how often this happens, but it does happen a lot. 3. Set Mobile data limit on your phone to a certain maximum MB or GB size. That means that your phone will warn you when that limit is reached so you know. For example, if you bought data plan of 1GB, you could set the limit to 500MB so that when that limit is reached, your phone will warn you or disable further usage until you allow it further. This is one nice feature on Android phones. 4. Disable apps from doing automatic updates from Google Play Store (for Android phones) when a newer version is released. That will stop unnecessary downloading in the background while you are not paying attention. There are more things you can do, but the above-mentioned ones are the basic ones. I can answer more questions on them if you ask here. And don't forget... can't trust what the networks tell you... :-). Cheers, Scapelli |

@op those option work better with few version of OS, but choosing or tampering with this option can make a minor change that will disestablish some setting on your mobile.. but the best option download "data eye" and watch his you toggle off and on to permit which app should get internet permission and be the boss of your own.... this baby stop all those stubborn system apps too.
