The church and mosques(if taxable) will soon retject this injustice. Buhari son will soon be flown abroad with tax payers money while those who pay the tax can't afford such.
If it were to be a church member who can't afford a church school we criticize the pastors but here govt officials are taxing us against our will and enjoying what we can't enjoy. Any attempt to tax the church is an attempt to tax the people twice.

When you won't read the post before typing nonsense. The tax is not on the church income as that is exempt from taxation by the Companies and Allied Matters Act.

However, the tax would be based on the properties occupied by those churches. Na RCCG go suffer am pass. You claim not to make profit but you're buying multi billion naira properties. Meanwhile, your members are in IKEJA General hospital unable to pay hospital bills and waiting for divine intervention.

Absolute rubbish. The function of the church is already one that provides services

Which service does the church provide?

Building mega churches when the members are homeless,
Pastors living like Pontius Pilate when members are living like Lazarus the beggar.

You are speculating. How does the church make profit? You will probably speculate further in answering that question.

The tax is one income and not profit. Or still you need me to define them for you?

Is Buhari not paying tax too? He earns salary after tax has been deducted.

And where is the evidence that Yusuf medical bill is offset from tax money? You guys just real out garbage from your anu just to prove a point.

On the principle of equity, the Church and Mosque is a business avenue which must be taxed. In UK, churches and religion centres are been taxed. This is because most full term pastors and bishops are been paid salary. The church earn revenue from every possible means. Either by selling religion items or offering money for special prayers. All these are no different from corporate organizations that render services or Industries that sells manufactured products which are taxed.

The Church property like every other Business properties should be taxed. The Sales revenue and Salaries of Pastors should be taxed too. There should no exception because both Church and it operators earn money. There is money flow that is taxable. These pastors or whatever they tag themselves should pay income tax just like every person. And the church which makes money from the congregation should also pay tax just like every other business or institution

Nigerians are really dull!! People read the article and are commenting as if they are asking religious bodies to pay income or corporate taxes...nooo, where did you read that? This is about Land use charge!!!! Wake up your brains!!!!

Land use charge is based on poroperty, Religious bodies dont pay but they use more of the facilities and put more damage on the infrastructure because they attract large crowds, actually it's only fair to society that they pay.

Where does the proceed go? You tell me. You are only speculating further.

Have you heard of scholarship they give out? Maybe you want the church to annouce it in radio so that unbelievers can overrun the real seed sowers. You guys just assume thing and get emotional over the strides the churches are making.

MTN issue Scholarship, buily school, roads and street development project but still pay tax to the Government.

Many industries impacted on Human development project. By financing talent, training community and hosting game for host. Yet they pay tax.

Oil companies gives scholarship, sponsor locals abroad, build roads, water project, provide electricity, build hospitals and equip it, provide sewage system and give to the poor ones in millions but still pay tax.

Banks and many cooperation support customer and offer gift but still pay tax.

How is your church different and why do you think your church should be tax exempted?

At least we know how much these corporate organizations make. We know their inflow and outflow of fund. Your church kept their record secret so that no one will question their fraudulent act. Billions of naira keep rolling in and very little is spent on scholarship or whatever. The school built by churches are expensive...most chuch members cannot afford. The scholarship are been given to handpicked rich members.

If MTN can give scholarships and sponsor training of Nigerians student, build schools and also engage in social development, yet still pay tax, how much more your church that earns free money, and many more from inflated sales proceed of religious material and do very little or nothing to improve lifes, explain to us why Churches should pay tax.

It is a known fact that corporate organizations do not braoadcast their social development inputs. Your church are the one making noises on airwaves and television that they gave members scholarship or employment. Ordinary politicians do that and still pay tax
