Most people are motivated to give just by seeing others give. If you feel it is a show-off when people post the pictures, it's fine but to that person that need that motivation to give more than he/she ought to when buying stuffs from people trying to make ends-meet, it is not a show-off. It is just the push they needed.

According to my wiring it is plain show off. Anyone that needs to see pictures of people giving before being motivated to give also has the "feed ego" issue and will not be OK the day there's no ovation for their giving.

How about giving to the security man at your estate gate who greets you incessantly everyday, or the newspaper vendor who you well know can't maintain is family on his earnings, or the child who grew up in your local church and has been struggling to move to the next level of education, or the attendant in the shop you buy groceries from who's your age mate but not as privileged as you are.

We don't remember to give to them because no one is taking pictures that will be posted online to feed our ego. Even churches will assist needy in their midst and post pictures everywhere for glorification. Let's be honest with our motives for once.

We are in that century where everyone has a reason for not giving - (the economy is bad, i don't make enough, my rent is too high, i need money too etc.), so when you see people give, please appreciate and support. Nobody will arrest or question them if they decided not to do that and they will still make heaven if they are Christians.

Even the bible says: "Do not forget the Gathering of Believers" - Why? To spur and encourage oneselves in this trying world; in words, deeds and good works. If you give, tell your fellow how it made you fill and encourage someone to do the same.

Invalid!!! The rising publicity stunts with giving is the bone of contention here. Telling someone how you felt by giving is not tantamount to posting pictures all over the place.

We're very hypocritical to wait till there's camera to show giving, whereas there are everyday people who are in need just by the corner and we gloss over because there's no paparazzi.
