A final year student of Accounting in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in Edo State, Benjamin Oghayerio, has reportedly committed suicide in the early hours of yesterday in Benin.

His lifeless body was found hanging on the burglary proof in his room at House number 17, Etinosasere Street, Ugbiyoko quarters at the state capital. According to the deceased’s elder sister, Mrs. Rosaline Ogbemudia, Benjamin as he was fondly called by his relations had packed his luggage in preparation to go back to school.
According to her, “the last time I saw the deceased was about 3 am when he slept in the sitting room as a result of power outage on the fateful night.”

Mrs. Ogbemudia further disclosed that at dawn, she asked her daughter to call Benjamin that it was already five minutes to 7 am so that he could come and wash the car to enable her drop him off and go to where she planned going. “The next thing I heard was a scream from the little girl that I should come and see foam in Benjamin’s mouth,” she said.

The unfortunate incident, Daily Sun gathered, had thrown the neighbourhood into mourning. Meanwhile, preparations are on the way to burry the remains of the deceased by family members. Though the cause of the suicide mission was not ascertained, however, a note left behind by the deceased indicated that frustration of having carry over in school, family crisis and membership of secret cult led him to take the action.

However, a community leader in the area, Mr. Lucky Igbinovia described the deceased as an easy going individual who had never been found in conflict with anybody in the area.
