Acting President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday met with Alhaji Umaru Muttalab, the father of the 22-year-old Farouk, who allegedly attempted to bomb an American aircraft on Christmas Day in 2009. The elder Muttallab came alone, and met with the Acting President behind closed doors for about one hour. He did not speak to journalists after the meeting. However, it was gathered that Farouk’s alleged attempt was discussed at the meeting. Nigeria was put on a terror-watch list by the United States as a result of the incident. Jonathan is scheduled to travel to the US on Saturday at the invitation of President Barack Obama. The attempted bombing and its resultant effect on Nigeria’s relations with the US is expected to feature in expected discussions between both leaders. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201004095571126 |
