LASG To Collaborate With Police On Environmental Laws by odutolasodiq(m): 9:59am On Jan 08, 2018 |
The Lagos State Government says it has sought the support of the Nigerian Police Force in its bid to ensure compliance with the new environmental laws in the state. The Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, said during a courtesy visit by the management of the ministry to the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgar, that the support had become necessary in order to keep the environment clean. While taking Edgar through the activities of the ministry, Adejare said the synergy between the ministry and the Lagos State Police Command was important to guarantee the success of the new reforms in the environment sector. He stated, “The successes recorded in years past in the environment sector could not have been achieved without the support and cooperation of the police. We, therefore, seek more consistent and harmonious relationship between the ministry and the Lagos Police Command. “Through your support, we have achieved a lot over the years and we have come to solicit more to achieve a cleaner, healthier, safer and liveable Lagos.” Edgar assured the ministry of his unalloyed support anytime it was required, and also commended the management for the efforts in ensuring a healthier and cleaner environment devoid of hoodlums through the parks and gardens initiative, stressing that it had assisted in the reduction of criminal activities in the state. He also called for a collaboration between the environment ministry and other ministries to ensure that unapproved buildings and unauthorised markets would not deface the environment. http://punchng.com/lasg-to-collaborate-with-police-on-environmental-laws/ |
