AKERMAS ENERGY LIMITED IS LOOKING FOR HSE OFFICER

 Contract Position
 Duration: 3 Years

INTRODUCTION
Akermas Energy is an indigenous company incorporated to deliver value added services to her clients. We aim at providing engineering and integrated solutions in developing new facilities, and highly conversant with classification rules & other standards and codes for Oil and Gas.

JOB SUMMARY
HSE involves creating organized efforts and procedures for identifying workplace hazards and reducing accidents and exposure to harmful situations and substances. It also includes training of personnel in accident prevention, accident response, emergency preparedness, and use of protective clothing and equipment. The safety officer is responsible for keeping policies up to date, meeting the latest standards and establishing new ones from time to time as more and newer risks are discovered. is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety. Safety officers develop, implement and enforce policies that reduce the risk of accidents. The safety officer determines what policies are needed and how to enforce them and also includes training of personnel in accident prevention, accident response, emergency preparedness, and use of protective clothing and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 Ensure that Project is executed in compliance with HSE Management Plan, HSE Management Procedure, Environmental Management Procedure, Potential Risk Register, Potential Risk Mitigation Plan, HSE Audit Plan/Procedure and any other HSE related documents.
 Support the development of OHS policies and programs.
 Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
 Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
 Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
 Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
 Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
 Ensure that Project is executed in compliance with HSE Management Plan, HSE Management Procedure, Environmental Management Procedure, Potential Risk Register, Potential Risk Mitigation Plan, HSE Audit Plan/Procedure and any other HSE related documents.
 Conducts toolbox meetings.
 Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
 Reports to concerned authorities as requested or mandated by regulations.
 Conducts job hazard analyses.
 Establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
 Performs emergency response drills.
 Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
 Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
 Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
 Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, and able to demonstrate a positive attitude towards safety in the workplace. Adequate knowledge and experience in Health, Safety and Environment. You should also possess the following skills and experience:
 Having experience to provide inputs in HSE related deliverables such as HSE Management Plan, HSE Management Procedure, Environmental Management Procedure, Potential Risk Register, Potential Risk Mitigation Plan, HSE Audit Plan/Procedure.
 Capable of identifying existing or predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous.
 Having experience to review and participate in development of HSE management system.
 Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
 Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
 In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures.
 Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
 Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
 Outstanding organizational skills.
 Diligent with great attention to detail.
 Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).
 Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
 Possess the ability to manage multiple projects.
 Team Spirit.
