Meet John Collison, who can today be referred to as the World's youngest self-made billionaire, after he dropped out from Havard to focus on his business.

When people look down on you, and think crazy of that bright idea you have got, just keep moving and don't lose hope. The story of this young man is sure to inspire you, and make you realise that you can make it in life regardless of your educational qualification.

John Collison, the cofounder and president of Stripe, is the world's youngest self-made billionaire at 27, and you can do the same, there is no limits to the heights we can attain in life.

John started Stripe, designed to transform the way people make online payments, with his older brother when he was just 19.

Originally from a small town in Ireland, he came to the US to attend Harvard until he dropped out to focus on Stripe in Silicon Valley, and now he has hit Silicon Gold.

John Collison has a net worth of $1.1 billion today, after Stripe's $9 billion valuation in the year 2016. Today, Collison enjoys flying planes, running, and hiking with members of the Stripe team.

It's the Self-made and successful entrepreneurs that inspire me,whether drop out or 'drop in'....
Not entertainers or sports men,who end up with nothing in the long run...

Before you think of dropping out, remember he's an Harvard University drop out. The intellect is there.

All these guys that dropped out from Harvard, Stanford etc
are smart, they didn't need those schools, but that doesn't mean they didn't study. They managed to learn things by themselves at a faster pace than was offered to them an evidence of this is their admission into these Ivy League universities.

Moreover, your demographics is an issue. Alot of Nigerians will be more successful than they are if they reside in developed countries.

Let us not be misled. Yes, he was a drop out, but...

1. Dropping out from a school like Harvard implies that the guy was a genius in the making to even get admitted there at first

2. Being a entrepreneur in the USA implies being provided with the necessary ingredient for business survival like a structured market, power, transportation, energy and funding unlike our country

If only our government could be sincere enough to provide these needed factors.... Nigerians would be blazing the trail , but here we find ourselves.... catching cold at the sneeze of these western Giants.

#2019 is at the corner again
God help Nigeria and Nigerians

From comments, many are criticizing Nigerians and saying that we don't have the environment to become great like many of these young entrepreneurs in the US.

Go on Quora and you'd hear of how many startups in the US fail, we only get to see the successful ones! Dont forget also, it's not everyone who drop out thar succeed, it's a risk and some of them succeed.

The problem with the Nigerian youth is laziness, we might not have everything at our disposal but we are being mediocre just because we think we lack the various resources needed to run a startup.

The greatest thing you have is yourself and the greatest investment you can also make is in yourself!

The same way Bill gate dropped out of Harvard and became a billionaire.

They are lucky it's not in Nigeria because I'm sure the system wouldn't permit them to succeed. Here is a horrible hell.

My lesson here is that education is no longer the key to success. Enter an enterprise if you no sabi book, don't force yourself to be a degree holder writing jamb at old age.

imagine talk....so people that are not in Harvard have no intellect?

Please, mind what you say. That not everyone is privileged to attend Harvard, does not mean they do not have intellect. Sometimes, it just means they lack funds and opportunity.

A dropout from Harvard and not from UI or UNILAG et Al.

I'm not saying our universities are bad. Far from it. All I'm saying is... your foundation and the idea itself matters .

Here in Nigeria, once our youths dropout, they head to the nearest studio to churn out wack!

Before you dropout like this guy, let me analyze something
1. You're probably droping out of a college or polytechnic - no offense to college and polytechnic students, he dropped out of Harvard!!
2. He has a dream before droping out, he didn't just drop out because he is tired of school or because his cgpa got injured
3. Starting a business over there is easier than our country, except you want to turn to a regular boring blogger
4. He is creative, creative thinkers, big picture thinkers, possibility thinkers are what makes up a successful entrepreneur
5. Another vital thing that can make you drop out is your talent
6. Big businesses require big capital, although you can start small but money will give your business a boost, going to a school like harvard means his parents are averagely rich
