No deaths were recorded but some of the players sustained injuries and they have been taken to the hospital for treatment. “There was no loss of lives. Nobody died, we have the case of five people sustaining series of injuries,” Gbenga Akinola, the team's psychologist, told The Cable.
“Everything is under control, hopefully all will be well. “I won’t like to disclose the names of those injured for I am still in shock over the incident.”
Kwara have gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League and will face Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, January 14 in their first game of the season.
