MANCHESTER City manager, Roberto Mancini says he will allow Nigeria's Lars Lagerback to have a chat with his defender, Nedum Onuoha on April 14 when the Super Eagles' Technical Adviser visits The Eastland.

Onuoha, a former England's U-21 captain, wants to switch allegiance to Nigera in order to gain a World Cup experience at South Africa 2010 and Mancini states that the player is free to make a choice though he believes Onuoha should not dump England having served as a youth captain.

''The decision is for Nedum,'' Mancini told the club's website.

'I feel he should wait for his senior chance for England but the thought of going to the World Cup with Nigeria is also great," said the former Italian international.

We definitely need a player like Onuoha. Rock solid, super quick, gaining in experience with a top flight EPL club. What's more is that in the past few games now he has had a regular shirt, unlike more than half of the current Super Eagles stronghold. There shouldn't even be a poll to know what people think. If he does indeed wish to play for Nigeria, he is should have his spot in the team. Lagerback, please.

larger-beer needs the likes of a Full back like Onuoha. look at the gaoslhe scored for Man city yesterday. While the likes of Tevex was selfishly running up and down trying to add to his score sheet. The underestimated defender simply slid right throw and put in two beautiful goals.

Yes o! And i believe him because I know the NFF we have could be that irresponsible.

the onuoha guy is a liar, in 2007 vogts called him, he refused also last year amodu talked to him he refused. i know for sure that he is not going to world cup. by may 11 when lars submit his list onuoha will still not be cleared up by fifa. so lars will just tell him to wait after world cup. just look at kevin boateng case to know what am talking about

i was thinking about that too but the way everybody is talking they sound confident of landing him. boatengs case may be a little different maybe due to his age or something coz its taken way too long

MANCHESTER City boss, Roberto Mancini, has promised not to influence Nedum Onuoha’s decision on who to pledge his international future. Onuoha, who is England U-21 defender, has indicated he is thinking of switching allegiance to Nigeria.

The decision by the youngster has not gone down well with a section of the English press who want him to commit to the Three Lions. But Onuoha insists he is seriously considering playing for his country of birth, Nigeria, where former Sweden Coach, Lars Lagerback, is in charge of the national team.

Mancini said: “I have not spoken with Nedum and it must be a personal decision.

“I think he would like to play for England but if this is difficult, then appearing in the World Cup is important for a player.

“If he has a chance of playing for Nigeria then that is a good thing. But he has to decide.”

Meanwhile, Onuoha scored his team’s fourth goal in the 5-1 routing of Birmingham City on Sunday.

City is now four points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham, which still has to travel to Eastlands, thanks to a devastating spell of three goals in five minutes at the end of the first half.

Carlos Tevez’s penalty put City in front and Onuoha added a second, with Adebayor touching in a third after Cameron Jerome had pulled one back.

Onuoha scored a fourth midway through the second-half before Adebayor completed the hammering with a fifth goal late for City, which hosts bitter rivals, Manchester United this weekend.
