I just dedicated today to reading about teaching English in China and believe me its worth a try...imagine making $3k on a normal...then if you re a real hustler, more could be made..cost of living is cheap there also...you could save up and buy hood which you can send back home...brothers...I think we should give this China a try....the work Visa may be hard but its worth a try...let's research more and put our heads together by sharing info and resource to aid us all ..

I will not discourage but don't bank on this because your chances of getting a visa to travel to China to teach is very slim. Chinese recruit mainly English speaking Europeans and Americans for this job.

While you search though keep your eyes open for scammers because there are a lot of them in this sector selling fake recruitment letters and IV letter from Chinese companies.

Not easy to get work visa brother, I don't mean you can get it, you need to have someone here that has company, then such person can get you a letter from ministry of work here.

Hello sir can you put us through this China movement..either work visa or student visa

I see some people here are interested in teaching English in China. First off let me start by saying getting an English language teaching job as a Nigerian carrying a Nigerian passport is one 'helluva' difficult task. The reason is because of the erroneous notion held by a lot of Chinese people that Nigeria is not an English speaking country notwithstanding the fact that English is our official language. Officially, South Africa is the only African country whose citizens can apply for English teaching jobs in China. Reason being that South Africa is regarded by many in China as an English speaking country because of the country's mixed demographic. Unofficially, anybody with a standard accent; excellent knowledge of basic English grammar; positive energy; good dress sense; a good appearance ( the fairer, the better because Chinese people are favourably disposed to people with fair / pale skin ). However if you're very dark like me (not midnight dark ooo), dress nicely and most importantly know your onions, people (opportunities) will not pass you up easily. I know guys from Nigerian, Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Russian, Uruguay, Brazil, Ukraine, Spain, the Philippines etc, who teach English in China. Aside from the SA guy (he's coloured)who got his employment through the front door, others got theirs through the back door with no working/teaching 'Z' visa. Teaching or working without a Z visa carries the potential risk of you being caught by the immigration police who sometimes pay unannounced visits to schools with the sole aim of apprehending foreigners teaching without the required visas. When that happens, you go see where all man including Oyibo man/ woman dey jump fence. Lol! With regards to salary, the $3k (18,500 Yuan) some guy quoted here is far fetched, imaginary and inflated. It's very rare to find a school in China that will pay a fresher in the field that amount of money. Even new ESL teachers from native English speaking countries don't earn that much in second tier cities like Sheyang. Although salaries are high in mega cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc, but boy, the competition is intense! All the best, guys!

Thank you boss for this.

People be guided, especially students.

Your visa doesnt allow you to work.

If you work, however and you are caught, your name na sorry.

The amount you make if you do work illegally is dependent on the number of hours available to you which is basically teaching Emglish (using one kind accent).
Do people do it? Yes.
Have they being caught? Yes and No.

PS:
I left China last year July after my studies. So, the info above together with the quoted is valid as at when I was there...

Your purpose would determine what kind of visa you’d be needing.
