In a statement by the President General of Ikwerre Youths Movement, IYM, Azubuike Chikere Wanjoku, “the Ikwerre people are grateful to President Buhari for assisting our son to demonstrate to the world, a great leader he is. Amaechi is our own Zik,  Awo, Balawa and Saraduna.”

It is reported that the title makes Amaechi the most influential Ikwerre indegene. The incumbent and the former governor are both Ikwerre.
