It has become glaringly visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that all is not well with Nigeria. During the armed forces remembrance day, Aregbesola, the governor of Osun state, made a remark that caught my attention. He said that Nigerians through their actions and utterances were already pushing the country towards another civil war. Factually, he was merely stating the obvious considering the fact that everyone is almost unanimous in asking people to take up arms and defend themselves in the wake of the ongoing Fulani herdsmen massacre and nonchalant attitude of the security apparatus/FG, and if this admonition is heeded, then the war may have already started. For the records, we need to really understand those pushing Nigeria to the precipice and those trying to make it a better place. According to statistics, Nigeria has over 280 ethnic groups with 3 dominant ones. For convenience, I'll list the 3 most progressive & peaceful ethnic groups as well as the three most destructive ethnic groups that have held Nigeria down perennially.
The most progressive and peaceful ethnic group in Nigeria are
1. Igbos
2. Yorubas
3. Efiks.
On the other hand, the most destructive are
1. Fulanis
2. Hausa's
3. Ijaws.
Since independence, The Igbos have never fought with any other ethnic group in Nigeria despite bordering a plethora of small ethnic groups and equally being found in large numbers across Nigeria, in fact, the only war they fought was against Nigeria itself, against the same injustice we are all suffering from today.
Yorubas are equally peaceful but have fought with Ijaws in Lagos, Hausa's in mile 12 & ile ife & Fulanis in Oyo.
Conversely, Fulanis have fought & is still fighting with virtually everybody in Nigeria same with Hausa's while Ijaws are always in a faceoff with their neighbors.
For those calling Igbos trouble makers, please provide facts or accept the truth.

Every discerning mind knows that Nigeria cannot continue like this, something must give. Ghadaffi once said that the country should be split into two, one for Christians and the other for Moslems. Although this would have solved a lot of problems but in practice it appears unrealistic since Yorubas have as many Christians as they have Moslems while the middle belt is also split between both religions. Leaving only the North West and South East/ South South as homogeneous for Moslems and Christians respectively.

The fate of the middle belt in the event of Nigeria's break up is really scary because the possible countries that would emerge is likely to be either Southern & Northern Nigeria or Biafra, Oduduwa, Arewa and Niger Delta republics, so heads or tails, the Middle belt appears stuck with the North and this reality is the driving force why the disparate ethnic groups of the MB are strident in their support for one Nigeria. They are mortified at the idea of being left alone with the Islamic North!
