I have read Genesis more times than you will ever know.
It is reportage, not recording.

Thousands of years ago when the major religions were invented by ancient civilisations, writing was also a new invention and the only way of permanently recording things. Firstly by painting on cave walls and carving pictograms in stone, then later when paper was invented by writing symbolic shapes on it in ink. Back then it would have made perfect sense for a god to use this method to get his message across by selecting a person to write down his message and say he had been 'divinely inspired'. For example; the old testament and gospel writers, Mohammed, Joseph Smith, Ron Hubbard, etc.

Now in 2010 with radio waves, high definition tv, satellite broadcasters and cable, mobile phones and world wide web, if an omnipotent god wanted to get his message across to all humans he could do so in an instant.

Have you ever asked yourself the question why he still uses fallible 'men of god' when there are much more efficient and reliable methods of communication available to him.

I doubt this is sheer ignorance but likely an itch for an argument

For starters I trust you know that the heaven in that text is actually heavens

Now you need to be explicit and unambiguous about the heaven you are referring to

Is it the 1st, 2nd or 3rd heaven?

Mind you God's throne is in the Heaven of heavens (i.e. the 3rd heaven)

but we know Kings dont live on thrones or do they?

1 Kings 8:27 below says

"But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!"

God lived and/or lives anywhere He fancies . . . God is Omnipresent

I once read heaven will pass away and a new heaven will be created
