For medicine, where you study doesnt matter if you cannot perform optimally. Infact, if the degree is from Russia, Ukraine is those east European nations, it is next to thrash as concerning medicine.

Says who, which international community, no matter your school if you leave the country for USA, Canada or Australia it is still the same qualifying exams that you and every other person will write.
Let me inform you, in Canada, no matter your year of experience, if you have not been practicing in Canada, US, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and some European countries, you must write the qualifying exams. No Nigerian school is recognised more than the other outside the shores of this land

To the op, apart from consideration of chances of admission,the two most important factor to consider in choosing a university for MBBS in Nigeria include the stability of the academic calendar, and Mdcn(most important)and Nuc accreditation status in the past,present and the projected future accreditation status.

Ui and Unilag have no significant issues in this regard.

Training for MBBS in most Nigerian universities is almost the same especially in the clinical sciences. You are all expected to learn almost similar things.

Even your lecturers (in clinical sciences which is 400 to 600 level depending on the school) are consultants/specialist which are all trained and awarded their post graduate degree under the same post graduate college (either national post graduate college or west Africa post graduate college or both) except for those that did theirs outside Nigeria. So, they are likely to give you almost similar training.

In addition,you aren't going to be examined by your lecturers alone during your exams as lecturers would be invited from other universities.

My take is that,if you want to choose between ui and Unilag for MBBS,pick any one of the two you think you have the highest chances of obtaining admission.

As for private universities, covenant university doesn't have MBBS. most private universities that offer it have accreditation issues; some may have it today only to lose it in few years' time. Nuc accreditation isn't enough to offer MBBS.mdcn accreditation criteria is tougher and the consequences of losing it is worse than that of Nuc.

I will recommend UNIBEN for you. Thy remain the best in Nigeria when it comes to medical profession.

MOBS is an entry level qualification AFTER
MBBS that is when you start studying medicine
A child must first learn the basics of a language before he can start writing books.
MBBS is an elementary qualification that allows you to start training.
It is where you do that second tier training that makes the difference.
e.g. If you want to train in trauma join the Army and go to Syria or somewhere like that, if you are interested in transplant surgery you have to leave Nigeria.
MBBS is not even an issue, what happens after MBBS IS THE Issue

When it comes to medical training in Nigeria give to the Federal Universities because of the government subvention allows them to employe the best of Professors,Readers,Consultants and even residents with high patients load which increases exposure.

LUTH: Centre for National Post Graduate Medical College.

No private university I repeat NONE has the pedigree and standing of federal universities in terms of undergraduate and post graduate medical training.

Op, no one cares about where u studied. Have u been to an hospital and asked of the school where the doctor DAT want to operate on u finished from? These are silly comparism, most people that engage in it in nairaland are either aspirants, they don't study in those schools, are studying a different course or are not serious. Get your admission first, then you will know if u will bother about the school u are studying or how to make it out in one piece.

Not really true! It's only if you studied in their (Russian & Ukrainian) unrecognized English medical programs that it could even be considered trash! However, the English programs in Poland & Hungary are NOT trash; they're better than medicine in Nigeria!

UI is the best to study any medical related courses. That was my faculty then. Am a living witness

UI please. Even the current Health Minister is from MBBS UI. I'm trying hard not to be biased but its a fact. You cant even compare University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan to Unilag teaching hospital. Its like comparing Real Madrid to Bristol city FC. Go for UI.

Well, based on my experience with graduates of both schools(2011-2016), i would say UI has the better products i.e(Medical Doctors).
The reasons are ;
1. Medicine as a course takes longer to complete in UI. Hence, more study and practice. If you want to be a Doctor in 6 years or less go to Unilag.
2. UI Product are academically sound, no jokes(95% of the time). Unilag, maybe 50-50.

Last advice, know yourself, if you know you are just an average student and not really ready to sacrifice the better part of your 20's, face Unilag.
But if you are a Rugeddy Baba/Mama, who loves extreme competition, and can manage a zero-degree social life, then face UI.

Truth is all Doctors get better on the job,the Unilag lecturers understand that, and will take it easy on you as a student, in UI , the lecturers no send you. Know it better than them or repeat the class.
Enough said.
