Georgematics: Update: i mentioned you before and i stand by my comment DONT LEAVE WORK BUT YOU CAN CHANGE WORK! What i mean is keep working and do parttime ALTERNATIVELY if your course has no parttime (e.g medicine, architecture, nursing, engineering) or whatever else you must be in full time then raise capital and acquire a skill with a month or two BEFORE you leave your current job. Barbing, soccer viewing centre, betting shop, catering and events, photography, stationeries and cyber centre e.t.c can fetch huge money within campus. COMPUTER SKILLS ARE MORE FLEXIBLE. P.S.: BEING THE ONLY BREAD WINNER IS A WASTE OF ENERGY! Force your mum and younger ones to acquire extra income sources through cake making, restaurant & bar, hair dressing, frying akara, yam or snacks, graphics and web design, phone/laptop repairs and flashing, COMPUTER SKILLS e.t.c They can also be useful in running your new business venture. I REPEAT FORCE EVERYBODY ABOVE JS3 OR AGE 15 TO STOP DEPENDING SOLELY ON YOU!! 1 Like |

Do NOUN its part time simple forget all these people telling you to quit your job, will they pay your school fee,you need money to go back to school, you stated here that things are hard you have not saved enough and your parents and sibling rely on you for support then why quit the job |

Georgematics: I will advise you combine both. This is where multitasking comes in. If the school is close to your place of work, you can actually do a full time program and still maintain your job, but this is where having a good, discreet and understanding boss comes in. S/he will be able to watch your back. And no mentioning of the arrangement with any of your colleagues, no matter how close you are to them in order to avoid putting both you and your boss in trouble, you know. How does it work? You manage your office assignment in such a way that you rush to school during your lunch hour. Pray for God's divine favour in all of this though, then go to school, explain your situation to your class governor and course adviser. Make friends with students that understand your predicament, those who will be able to help you make photocopies of the courses treated and handouts. And if by God's Grace you are able to attend lectures twice a week, and with determination, sacrifice, hard work, textbooks and handouts, believe me you'll be able to run with the two (full time in school and still maintain your job) at the same time and still make success. The sacrifice I mentioned above simply implies that your weekends, public holidays and your annual leave will mostly be dedicated to studying. I wish you the best. 1 Like |

Georgematics: bro i go with the popular advice on this thread. but few questions for you. 1) where are you base is it South west if yes, you can pick up a distance learning program of University of Ibadan, relative cheap. the center has two locations Lagos and Ibadan. 2) Is ur present job or work certificate driven. if no plz stick with it for now when you look out for school that can help you retain ur job. 1 Like |

Zykod: He’s not going to throw away anything. I am a student of NOUN and I earn Times 4 of what he mentioned up there, I once had a similar challenge too, some guys on this forum helped with the decision I took and it worked. I am in my 300l now. So dude please do the needful, don’t quit your job, apply for a part time school. A lot of graduates don’t even earn that much these days. I hope this helps. 2 Likes |

What one have, he may never value, until its all gone. Oga sir, if u reside in NIGERIA!!! Dont leave your 55,000 naira job for sch. Education is an illusion. Even the NYSC does not pay up to half your salary. Better still If u must further your education do so, but keep the job 3 Likes |

If I were in your shoes, I'll never ever quit my job. I'll either face my job combined with my academic work and give it my all. And if the job will not give room for academic activities, I'll better seek out admission to National Open University (NOUN) that is, if the course you intend studying is available. But, while education/certification is quite important for career development, I'll on the other hand never advise you to quit your job for academic purpose. You can only try all you could and marry the two together... Best wishes |
