As a child, I refused to play with any toy. I preferred playing with my peers because in my young mind; it felt like being trapped.

Most people had reservations about toys until they were introduced to toys that could stimulate and please. But how do we feel about having a life size doll with artificial intelligence as a pleasure or sex partner? Simply put, these dolls are able to have conversations and do more than the usual portable erotic toy that most people have become used to over the years. With their arrival, the vibrators and dildos suddenly became kiddies toys.

No matter how hard we try to speak in hushed tones about them; push the matter off the table or deny their existence, their birth has been announced and soon, judging by the spike in the number of people who have been using their portable predecessors, the mixed feelings and denial with which they are being welcomed would soon be a thing of the past. They are with us already and as with many controversial sexual issues like; same sex marriage, many people would openly accept them while many more would have them concealed probably because of societal pressures. Eventually, most of us would learn to accept them or be forced to live with their existence.

Whether they would be able to replace our natural companions is a question nobody can answer just yet. But the truth is that they now have a permanent space in most bedrooms in developed countries and are gradually replacing their handy and portable predecessors.

As I conducted my research on this tornado progressively sweeping through nations we consider developed, many questions raced through my dazed mind when I watched that doll have a normal conversation with a human on social media;

- Are Nigerians ready for this revolution?
- Going by our Laws, will the use of life size sex dolls or toys be legal in Nigeria?
- Will our laws be able to control the lascivious crave for these toys?
- What of the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act, will the show of same sex amorous relationship directly or indirectly between a man/woman and an adult toy of the same sex constitute a violation of this Act?
- Does owning and deriving sexual pleasure from an adult sex doll/toy constitute an indecent act under our sexual Offenses Act?
- Is Nigeria going to embrace this revolution or is it too early to deliberate on them and amend our laws?
- Is it morally right for a Christian to purchase, own and use an adult toy for sexual pleasure?
- Will the combined effort of Christians and Muslims be enough to withstand this grand move to gradually replace the natural way of consummation?

Whether they are illegal or immoral, the reality is that more people are no longer introverted or reluctant to show off their pleasure toys. Hopefully, we will not see a future where many more would be willing to be legally joined in wedlock with their pleasure or sex dolls.
