Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has launched an elaborate scheme to ensure that his candidate emerges the new Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to represent the North-West geo-political zone.

President Buhari had approved the appointment of a Director from the North West, but Mr. Abba Kyari, President Buhari's Chief Of Staff, stopped the process and nominated someone from Katsina State.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the development generated bad blood in CBN and within government circles.

SaharaReporters learned that Kyari wants Mr. Usman Hassan Katsina, former Director, Aso Savings, to be made Deputy Governor instead of Edward Lametek Adamu, an accomplished career banker, whom the President had initially approved from within the CBN ranks.


The Chief of Staff on Wednesday night refused to release the Presidential approval to the media as had been expected. Instead, said sources, he facilitated another visit by Mr. Katsina to Aso Rock in an attempt to ensure that the President's preferred candidate is dropped.

CBN sources said staff are watching the development and are wondering if dedication and competence, as so far shown by Mr. Adamu, no longer count.

The sources, however, said that any attempt to dump the President's candidate will attract stiff opposition from Bank staff, as many of them are aware that Mr. Katsina is a weekly guest of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for involvement in the fraud that rocked the organisation.

If u can't think by urself then someone has to do the thinking for u bt with the attendant self-interest of the thinker and when push comes to shove the original person that was supposed to do the thinking bt shied away from it would have to bear the brunt and carry the can.

In Buhari's inaugurational speech he said he didn't belong to anyone bt we all know now that all he said then were mere rhetorics. Buhari belongs to Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari...In his foray into governance as a military president,we all know it was his Vice(Idiagbon) who did the thinking for him and this covered his lapses which made people believe he was strict and tough,won't he just defy all odds and put on a thinking cap?

What makes the whole thing annoying is the fact that this is someone who was a serial presidential contestant in the past whom one would think already had his economic blue print handy and would just commence implementation immediately he was sworn in bt what did he do?,he wasted a whole six months shopping for dead woods as ministers.

Now he wants a particular person as the deputy Central Bank governor bt Abba Kyari has his own candidate ,hmm and at the end of the day the Buhari might have his say bt the chief of staff will definitely have his way,what manner of C in C is he,one whom if not deferring to his appointees of Daura extraction would be busy looking the other way while his appointees of the same party slug it out with one another..Na wao,this na really one chance Nigerians don enter..
