Vacancy With Ali Baba Explains Why Companies Prefer Experienced Hands by WotzupNG: 10:52am On Jan 29, 2018 |
A TV show hosted by Comedian Alibaba called Vacancy With Alibaba, has come out to explain why most companies prefer to hire experienced hands ahead of those with little or no experience. The show which brings job seekers and employers together wrote via their Instagram page: #RepostSave @alibabagcfr with @repostsaveapp ・・・ Why are Nigerians such hypocrites? I posted that a media company needed producers, presenters, marketers and programme developer... And I only said experienced candidates should apply. No mention of years of experience. Now I have 7 people in my DM and 4 in my whatsapp asking why do "You people who have made it always ask for Experience?" Otiiii. I won't ask for Experience. Why do you think companies poach staff of other companies? I believe in learning on the job. But it's not when you are in a competitive market. In such cases, you get the experts to lead your team and get those who will be learning on the job, work under that person. If you are going to Abuja and you are all boarded, strapped in, ready for take off and you hear the chief air hostess say, "Please bear with us. We will soon take off. We have a small matter to sort out. Pilots have started the engines as you can hear... but This is the first time the 2 pilots are flying a real plane. They just graduated from flying school. They are going through the manual as I speak. We will be airborne in 10 minutes. For now let's serve you..." She will not finish that announcement. http://www.purplefeel.com/2018/01/comedian-alibabas-tv-show-explains-companies-prefer-experienced-hands.html 7 Likes

Experienced hires are so convenient. They are "plug-and -play". Greenhorns take almost a year to get properly off the ground. What I do now is look for experienced people who are poorly paid and make them offer. T times when I see very very smart freshers I go for them because in 2 years they are better than the average experienced hire. 8 Likes 1 Share |

His example with the pilots is irrelevant. I feel when employing, a mixture of experienced and non-experienced staff will help Nigeria's economy and growth. This is the point of having a reasonable government that will help and assist businesses that want to recruit non-experienced staff and encourage companies that do. PS Countries like the UK encourage and and give incentives to companies to hire inexperienced staff. It's part of the government policy. And using the pilot analogy is an extreme case. No airline will allow two rookie pilots to man an aircraft. 12 Likes |

with due respect to uncle Ali, this is all BULLOCKS. those so called experienced employee were employed as unexperienced persons somewhere before they got the experience. so if their formal employers had the same mentality, how would they have gotten the experience? from the skies?? and concerning the pilot example, every human will have a shivery feeling after such announcement but a right thinking person should know the "experienced" pilot flew a passenger plane with PASSENGERS in it once for the first time. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Quite true (mostly in a very competitive market). However it is pertinent to inject serious, eager, and smart freshmen periodically to spice up the system. Every master was once a learner. 4 Likes |

What experience did Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates have before establishing themselves? Ideas run the world, experience is relative, one can be in a job for ten years and still don't have the know how of someone doing the same job somewhere else for 6 months. Competitive markets are ruled by those who have the best minds not necessarily the most experienced hands 4 Likes 1 Share |
