Nigerian Photographer Receives Getty Images Creative Bursary Award by phoenix45(m): 1:57pm On Jan 31, 2018

Nigerian photographer, Yagazie Emezi, is one of the six recipients that have been selected by Getty Images for their Creative Bursary Award, an award established by Getty Images in October 2017 to help photographers around the world, with prizes ranging from two thousand to five thousand US dollars.

The five other recipients are Neema Githere, Oriana Koren, Jeremy Dennis, Donavon Smallwood and Tara Sellios. The winners were chosen by top industry creatives from thousands of applicants.

Emezi posted this on her Instagram page:

“Excited to announce that I am among the 6 recipients selected for the @gettyimages Creative Bursary (@gettyimagescreative) for emerging photographers! Thanks to the funds, I’ll finally have some small piece of mind to set time aside to put form to the things in my head lol. Congratulations to the rest of the recipients (it was great to see a familiar name on the list representing Kenya @findingneema )! Ready for the challenge and looking forward to seeing how we make use of this opportunity to tell more of our necessary stories.”

can't you just celebrate her without going tribal ? A Nigerian success story is indigenous to all of us irrespective of the tribe.
