Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi,has been endorsed by his kinsmen for the 2018 governorship election
slated for July 14 in Ekiti State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) members from the three wards inhis Ode Ekiti, headquarters of Gbonyin local Government area
countryhome reached the consensus at a meeting with the governorship aspirant held in the town on Tuesday.

The members, who are executives from the three wards , predicated their action on the enormous roles played by Faparusi in rebuilding
the party in the town since 2007 before Dr Kayode Fayemi assumed office as the governor and most importantly after losing the June 21,
2014 governorship election.

They praised the former lawmaker for not deserting the party and allowed members to suffer, unlike other aspirant who just decamp from
the PDP former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Gbenga Aluko.

Speaking on behalf of the members, the chairman of one of the wards Hon Clement Adeyemo, said they took the action so that the town and
Gbonyin local government won’t lose out in the APC primary electioncoming up inApril.

“We noticed that our aspirant, Hon Faparusi , has a brighter chance in the primary, having worked assiduously by reaching out to the
delegates in all the 177 wards , local government areas and even the local Council Development Areas(LCDAs).

“As much as we have a bright chance, we shouldn’t also bungle same by approaching the shadow election with a divided house. We have to put
our house in order and that we have done .

“Looking at the political trajectory of Hon Faparusi, one can infer that he has been a blessing not only to Ode Ekiti but Ekiti in general. When he was in the House of Representatives, he empowered more than 5,000 youth while the elderly were not left out.

“As the parliamentarian representing Gbonyin/Ekiti East/Emure federal constituency, he instituted legacy projects like ICT centre in Emure,
Omuo , Ode and Ilasa Ekiti. He opened a Library in Omuo Ekiti that has become a veritable academic ground for students who are preparing for
WAEC, NECO and JAMB examinations.

“Rather than for our youth to be taking to crime, the empowerment has kept them busy and this we want Hon Faparusi to replicate across
Ekiti which we believe will be of enormous benefit to Ekiti at large”, he said.

Faparusi, who commended the party members for the endorsement, said he would strive hard to ensure that the governorship ticket comes to
Gbonyin local government.

The APC chieftain added that he owes it a duty as a leader to continue to work for the people, saying : “leadership is about selflessness and not personal aggrandizement, is for collective benefit.

“I have dedicated myself to the service of humanity and on that I will stand forever. Let me also say unequivocally, this endorsement conveyed a strong message of love and this will rededicate me to continually serve you.

“We are not seeking this ticket for the fun of it, we are determined to get it and win the main election, so that we can put smiles on your
faces. We can’t allow Ekiti to continue to languish in poverty as being witnessed under Governor Ayodele Fayose.

“We must constitute ourselves into a potent force that can rescue our people from the throes of economic deprivation and wanton neglect.

“What I want to do is to radicalize the agriculture through commercial farming that will be majorly financed by government and private bodies, set up a robust scholarship scheme for tertiary education up to the PhD level, free education at primary and secondary cadres, Social Security for the elderly, free health services for the poor and infant , ensuring safety of lives and property, jobs for unemployed youths , running of all-inclusive government , ensuring operation no potholes on city and inter-state roads, among others.

“All these landmark projects are what I intend to do, and we can achieve these seemingly uphill tasks with your votes, prayers and
supports”, he said.
