It should produce above 150-200 fruits before replacement. It is advisable to renew the plantation at most in 3-4 years.

Except there is new improved versions now, from research (I still be internet farmer) after the second year, the fruits are smaller in size and number. It is no longer worth it. Better to replace after 2 years

It depends on variety too. Some stay as long as even six years but the average is 2.5-3 years especially the dwarf variety.
The life of most dwarf variety is
0-6 months
6-30 months - fruiting average of 1 a week
After this, decline sets in.

Please sir, is the market for pawpaw large?
I mean are there ready buyers?

This one I am raising is for home consumption. From lokoja, the market should be able to take a trailer load easily a week.
From my findings, I was told by the local sales people that even if I farm 20 hectares, the north will easily consume it.

Average yields and gross revenue of commercial trees per hectare. These are just expected gross revenues. Some of them will require more labour than others. Most intensive are ogbono and palm trees.

This papaya dwarf variety is expected to last for 2.5 years and it's up there with one of the highest revenues
Others will outlive the owner. I have a full project proposal for the moringa dwarf variety for those interested.

Palm oil= 3000 litres @ N400 per litre = N1,200,000

Ogbono dwarf variety= 3000kg seed @ N1900 per kg = N5,700,000

Moringa maru variety= 8000kg seed @ N1200 per kg = N9,600,000

Dwarf papaya series = 3000 fruits per week @ N50 = N150,000 *52 = N7,800,000

Cashew dwarf tree= 1500kg seed @ N600 = N900,000 will likely increase at 10th year by 2-3 times.
where is your location please? The MORINGA seeds are they hibrid?

I don't have it currently. They are sold in India but expensive at $1000 per 1kg (3000 seeds)

I planted 10 germinated plants and gave out the remaining.
Currently, there are six pawpaw trees alive as the other four died out of dehydration earlier during the dry season due to my absence from the house for over two weeks with no one present in the compound.

Good info, please tell me more about the dwarf ogbono how much does it cost to do an hectare plantation and how long does it takes from planting to maturity and how long does the tree lives before dying. Thanks always!

I don't have accurate figures. The info I will divulge here was given to me by an agric extension worker.

Starts fruiting from 18 months if irrigated

Hectare to cover 120 trees and expected to yield upto 25kg/tree after at least five to seven years

Lifespan of tree is above 50 years.
Cost of seedling is average of N350 per plant.

Moringa is the best crop for fast roi especially if you have the resources to convert to oil, moringa fragrance or biodiesel.

The estimated earnings for a hectare from 3000 litres of moringa oil is avg price of (30,000,000) 3000*10,000 or min price of (15,000,000) 3000*5,000

Some of us are still looking for commercial land and when this fulani herds men trouble will go away.

4-6 months but this variety needs irrigation to do well.
Re: ... by Idemujoseph: 9:16pm On Jun 17, 2018
OK thanks! Bit I might not need irrigation because I am in Delta State.

What of between December to February? If it doesn't get water enough during these periods, there will be decrease in expected yields.
The first year is expected to yield 2 tons per hectare to 5 tons second year to maximum of 8 tons from fifth year onwards.

I have the feasibility for upto 15 years

Mostly traders from the north buy in bulk in Kogi I know. Even if you have 100 trailers, it will be taken.

Interesting my fear for morning a has always been the market., but for this info another issue is the herders i.e Fulani and their cattle. I guess the plantation might serve their meal in minutes since the variety is dwarf as you said. What's your opinion on this?
Thanks always

Lol. I don't know if cattle eats the leaf. Another solution is using plant defense plants like jatropha to seal off the farm. At least let's see how this fulani encroachment is handled by the government.
