Still wondering about moral decadence in our society...
I liked this young boy selling fuel.... his work rate and commitment attracted me to him..... I decided to buy fuel from him...I didn’t really needed it...
He pored the first 10 litres and asked if I needed more....I nodded in affirmation....

Then the wait began..... he left to bring more fuel....
Minutes turned to an hour .... I was frustrated but I couldn’t leave...not without paying him. Though I felt bad, I was motivated by his trust for me. Remember he didn’t ask for the money for the 10 lites before going to bring more...
My anger evaporated when I saw him coming agilely with 2 cans of 10 litres each

At his age, I thought that was brave.

He apologised on arrival and started dosing the fuel.

I said to myself..... I will top something on the bargained price. I gave him the money and he just mumbled thanks and hurried out.

I called him back and suggested he count the money... he did that quickly and told me it was complete

I urged him to count again.... I wanted him to see the money I added so I could explain how much I liked him... and this time I was watching him

He counted briskly fumbling the notes to confuse me.... I was utterly disappointed. I asked him to count with me...he just handed the excess to me and made to leave. My heart was broken....

I could not forget his hard work... I called him back. Spoke to him about honesty and its reward.... I increased the money and give him... his guilt turns to happiness and I felt happy too..,
