Episode 1

"…I think I have stayed too long under the umbrella of that so-called affection I use to have for you. Truth is, I really don't love you anymore. I have been thinking about how to put this to you. But I just couldn't figure it out. I really don't think we can still continue this relationship dear. Perhaps it's time for us to go our separate ways!"

These were the selfsame words that came out from Gideon's mouth on that very day. He had concluded that a break-up would be the best gift he would offer Asante on her birthday.

"What! Baby, what's happening? What's wrong? Talk to me nah?" Asante said as she was very confused as to where the sudden break-upish was coming from.

Gideon straightened his face as he stood up from the beautiful piece of chair, and started adjusting his pocket filler in his nicely sewn suit. He simply ignored her questions, as he gestured with his hands telling her that he was about to leave.

"You mean to tell me that you have never loved me all these while or what? The times we have spent together and all?" Asante said, with her voice now vibrating in anger and as tears gushed out from her eyes.

Asante had lost hold of herself. She couldn't believe Gideon had brought her all the way for a dinner date, in a public place, on her birthday, just to break up with her. Worse of all, she had no idea why he was leaving the relationship.

"Hey! Keep calm." Gideon finally said as he tried to calm her down, so as not to further arouse the attention of other well-to-do couples who came for a date also in the restaurant.

"Please don't get me wrong. Or better still, don't get it twisted or take it to heart like that. It's not really as if I don't love you anymore or something. I do. I love you, but I am kinda no longer in love with you." Gideon said breaking the silence that he had fought for just a few seconds ago.

The statement was so complicated that, Asante had to off her heels so she could be comfortable and probably comprehend fully the gibberish he was saying.

"Gideon why are you doing this to me? Why are you so complicated? What's you love me but not in love with me? Why are you this heartless?" Asante said as she began to sob gently, yelling the last statement so hard that some other couples having a seemingly good time had to look at their direction.

"See babe, you are causing unnecessary attention here. You are creating a scene already" Gideon said raising his voice a little higher this time around.

"What's so difficult here for you to understand? I say I am not in love with you na. I am not doing again. Do you have to start displaying childishness here cause of this little ish? Abeggi jare." Gideon added as he stormed out of the restaurant with his sparkling shoes leading the way. He left Asante behind and she couldn't believe her eyes.

Asante's eyes popped out in amazement and confusion as she watched Gideon leaving.

"Three Years? Ah!  No! This must be a dream or something" She screamed out gesturing with three of her fingers, using one for each year he spent with Gideon. As she tried to make another statement, she could no longer hear herself as she slowly fell back to the chair she had sat on, then finally fall down.

Some of the other couples around couldn't help this time but rush to where she was for aid.

After suffering two massive heart breaks, Asante thought meeting Gideon was her final bus stop. Unfortunately for her, it would just be one of the incredible series.

Could it be that Asante had a problem managing men or is it that some men are just too wicked? Well, we will find out soon.

Episode 2

Exactly Five years ago, before Asante could ever meet Gideon who she has now concluded was the devil himself wearing a human form, she had meant Bernard her first love.

It all started in Kenyatta University in Nairobi during the freshmen party. It was a night of all nights, where most freshmen got the opportunity to have a hook-up.

"Hello Beauty! Are you a lizard, because agama eyes on you" Came the voice of a very young fellow who could categorically be referred to as every woman's desire. He was tall, dark and handsome. Seeing his stylish legs alone, one could easily conclude that he was probably a protégé of one of the legendary athletes in Kenya. But that was a far cry.

Asante was practically mesmerized by his girlish voice and ability to twist words. "This must be the African Justin Bieber" She had said in her heart.

Expecting another romantic statement from him, she was however shocked to hear him ask "Are you good in algebra?"

Asante was almost turning moody but just decided to give him a cold answer, "Yes"

"Oh, Great then. I was asking because I wanted to know if you could replace my X without asking Y" Came the bomb shell from the Pun Lord.

The excitement from the pun so hit Asante that she began to blush like a she-goat having her period for the first time. Just that moment, by that very same statement, Asante had fallen for him already. Soon, they became inseparable.

Shortly after freshmen party, Asante and Bernard had become the talk on campus.

Bernard being very handsome, doubled with his title as Mr. Fresh for that session made him every ladies’ dream.

Many ladies were so tripping for him that he became a potential threat to virtually every other guy on campus. Guys became prayerful to God and responsible to their girlfriends so as to avoid losing them to Bernard. The fear of Bernard-the-handsome soon became the beginning of faithfulness.

A wink from Bernard to your girlfriend may just be the end of your relationship with her. He had this aura that followed him which in turn make girls flock after him like soldier-ants following Dangote sugar.

Bernard however claimed it was only Asante that he pledged his love to.

"Baby If I had a flower for every single time I thought about you, I would probably be walking in a garden now. My love for you is just nothing short of that, a nursing mother has for her unborn child. You are mine forever. I love you" Bernard once said to her after she felt threatened by the bevy of ladies always around him.

After this statement, Asante couldn't help but smiled as if her eyes had finally seen her libido.

"I love you too Bernard… Please don't allow those girls take you away from me oh. I would just die. I can't see myself living without you." Asante replied him as she was still scared of losing him to others.

"Awnn Awnn! That’s so sweet. Don't worry baby. They won’t take me away. Come here" He said gently as he drew her close and attempted a first kiss.

With the just concluded emotional remarks by Bernard, it was almost impossible for her to resist that kiss. The smell of his perfume was even so tempting that she was already in a daydream, seeing herself in his warmth embrace.

As his lips got to hers, she felt a kind of softness that she had never felt before. It was like sleeping on Mouka foam on a very tiresome day. The mouth spray he had also used, made him further irresistible.

However the kiss has only lasted for fifteen seconds then she quickly withdrew back. Cleaning her mouth with her left hand like one who has been caught stealing meat in the very act, she said "Am sorry Bernard, we can't do this now. Am kinda  still a virgin."

The statement came as a bombshell as it put an end to the rush of sexual excitement that Bernard had just began to feel.

Episode 3

"Oh, no problem then" Bernard replied as he began to arrange his already rumpled sleeve and adjusting the belt of his well-ironed pant.

He seemed to have been carried away already by the kiss, as his weapon of war beneath his thighs had already stood gallantly ready for a fight. He however had to retreat and surrender as the day a man may love to fight, a lady may not.

"Are you still angry about the incidence of the last time?" Asante said to him after lectures the next day. Bernard had left her the other day without saying a word.

"Should I have been happy?" Bernard replied applying rhetoric’s as a scholarly English and Literature student that he was.

"Well, to answer your question. Emotionally, Yes. Technically, No. "He added

"Awwn awnn. Am so sorry dear. You know I love you and would want to do anything for you. But this is just too way far. Giving the fact also that my mum is an Evangelist. She might end up skinning me alive" Asante said.

"Oh. That's interesting. I never knew I was dating an underage you know. How old are you again? Remind me, mummy's girl." Bernard said and hissed, bringing out his ear phone as if he was going to put it on and not listen to her.

"Please baby. Try to understand with me now. I may be 21 already, but still just a baby in the eyes of my mum. Try to understand please" Asante said

"Oh. And you decided to date? If you were a still a baby as you claim, you should probably not be in the university na, much more dating. Well, thank God there are other ladies around" Bernard said this time around putting on his earphone.

The word so struck Asante that she had a mixed feeling of anger and confusion. She however left him in annoyance and headed straight to her hostel.

"This one that you are frowning your face so. What happened again?" Adesuwa her roommate asked.

"The look on the face of a goat does not stop the owner from taking it to the market. Your frowning face won't solve this case study. You are late for group preparationjor. Better come and join" Ayo said.

"Food is ready oh. Should we eat first or solve the case study?" Akosua finally said using her kente wrapper in cleaning her mouth signifying the food was very pepperish. She was always wearing her kente like a badge of honour to always show that she was a proud Ghanaian.

With the look the three of them gave her, she quickly join them on the bed so they could solve the case study.

Ayo had joined the three ladies in their hostel so they could have their group study together. He happened to be the only guy in their midst and the scholar too. He was also a Nigerian like Adesuwa as his Dad had been in Kenya for a long time and he had joined him during his high school. Only that Adesuwa had been there since she was eight, though she visits Nigeria intermittently.

The Quadruple were Economics students who had a case study on “The Effects of Kenya's Monetary Policy on Commercial Bank Lending Habits” to be presented the next day.

All through the supposed brainstorming, only one thing occupied Asante's mind - yielding to Bernard's sexual intimacy request or not.

At a point, she felt like sharing the whole issue with her friends. But given the fact that none of them even like Bernard, she already concluded that they will dissuade her.

But with all the reasons they had given for not liking him, she couldn't just understand it from their perspective. Perhaps, when you are deeply in love, you are deeply truly blind.

Few minutes after the case study, she told them she needed to get a drug from the school Pharmacy. However, she went straight to Bernard’s hostel as she couldn’t get herself to stop thinking of him.

One day monkey go go market, he nor go come back. Let’sjust hope today is not that day.It might just be though.

Episode 4

“Am sorry for what happened earlier on today! You know I love you and would want to make you happy? But for now, it’s not just as easy as you think” Asante said, standing behind Bernard’s door in his hostel as she tried to apologize for walking out on him earlier on.

She had come to him straight as she thought the more time she wasted not being around him, the more susceptible he will become to those blood-sucking and boyfriends-snatching girls flocking all around him. She was probably too insecure.

At this, Nekesa, Bernard’s roommate quickly got up from the bed as he took the first shirt his hands came across on the hanger and jumped out. The atmosphere became the perfect place for them as the only other living thing left in the room was a rat shuttling intermittently between Bernard’s set of pots and bag of food stuffs.

Bernard and Nekesa his roommate had tried severally to kill the rat, all to no avail. They could only see it but can’t touch. They had finally settled with living with the rat and even named it after their worst course Lecturer – Prof. Chacha. The rat Prof. Chacha was also a good roommate as he never disturbs them as long as there is food.

Bernard however still decided to talk irrespective of Chacha’s presence.

“Baby, I can make it easy. All you should care about now is the fact that you love me and I love you too. Shouldn’t that be the most important thing right now?” He said, making emphasis on his last statement with his girlish voice as he drew closer to her.

Asante gave no response as she tried to drawback a little as Bernard kept coming closer to her. Soon enough, her back was against the wall.

“I know you are a little bit scared. Maybe the pain you will feel or something. But don’t worry, it won’t be as you are thinking.” Bernard said slowly as he bit her left ear in preparation for romance.

“I am not scared!” Asante said firmly trying to impress him that she was up to the task even though she knew she was clearly not.

Bernard took the opportunity, as his lips moved from her left ear to the right then to her neck. At this point she could no longer resist him. Soon she was on the bed and Bernard began to off her clothes.

In the course of the act, she had a mix feeling of pleasure and pain. Pleasure from the ongoing intercourse and pain from the fact that she was giving out her virginity freely to guy just to keep him from other girls. But soon enough the match was over as it wasn’t even up to a quarter of a football match’s first-half. Bernard then fell asleep.

Since it was just about 9pm and she needed to go back to her hostel, she got up from the bed as she looked for her clothes. Picking up her shirt which was thrown to the reading table by Bernard as his hormones had inspired him before the act, she was dumbfounded with what she saw.

She ran out of the room trying to hold back the already gathered cloud of tears in her eyes as she left Bernard alone who was still fast asleep. And of course the rat, Prof. Chacha who probably had just watched a Blue Film for the first time in his life. Or should we say her life

What do you think she saw? What do you think will happen next oh? Drop your comments below.

Episode 5

“So it’s medicine that you have been buying since abi?” Adesuwa said to Asante, as her own way of ‘welcome back’.

“What happened Asa? You stayed quite long you know? And tomorrow is the presentation.” Akosua said bringing to her remembrance the nemesis that was just about to befall her.

She looked at both of them as they held their pitch-book in preparation. She didn’t know the exact response to give to them. She just went straight to the bed, dusted it, took one of her wrappers and slept. Both of her friends gave her that strange look, and gesticulated to themselves like “Well, who knows what happened?”

Akosua who had been praying that she does not eat when she comes back, quickly said “Babe, this one that you are sleeping so? Could that also mean you don’t want to eat again?”

She got no response from her and said “Well, Adesuwa you were here oh. She said she wasn’t going to eat.” Then she headed to the kitchen which was just demarcated with a curtain as it was a self-contained apartment.

As she turned to Adesuwa, the look she got from her frightened her immediately. She just respectfully went back to her chair as she took her book again and began to grumble that the food will spoil if she doesn’t eat it.

“My problem with you is that with all the food you eat, I still cannot make a perfect distinction between you and this mannequin” Adesuwa lambasted her as she pointed one of her clothes hanging on the inanimate object close to their wardrobe.

Just that moment they heard Asante sobbing gently and quickly called out simultaneously “Asante?”

Without getting any response from her, they both rushed to the bed as they began to console her and at the same time asking her what happened.

“You don’t cease to amaze me you this girl. Is that how you people behave in your village? You should console first before asking what happened” Adesuwa blasted Akosua again for the umpteenth time this night.

“What difference does it really make? You are consoling, I am asking the question. That way, we are both using two stones to kill one bird.” Akosua said sounding intelligent.

“Economics student! Chai. It’s almost the end of second semester and you still cannot effectively minimize resources? Your parents now in Accra will be thinking that their daughter is studying Economics, not knowing she has added ‘Home’ to the front. I pity you! Meanwhile, the adage is using one stone to kill two birds. Not the other way round. Nonsense!”  Adesuwa said as she hissed and turned back to Asante again.

Just that moment tears almost fell from Akosua’s eyes. As she was about to talk, Adesuwa’s loud voice cut her off as she said to Asante “What were you saying just now jare before the mosquito bite?”

Akosua got up in anger as she went to her reading table back. Asante just kept staring at both of them as if she was watching a movie in the Cinema. Only that tears were still coming out from her eyes.

Feeling shy and at the same time sobbing gently, she said “We did it!” Then she continued to sob.

“Did what?” Adesuwa asked shouting.

“We had sex!”

The room became quiet. Akosua who had dissociated her mind from the discussion to face her book soon opened her mouth. Only that one couldn’t really distinguish the symbol of her mouth-opening. Whether it is as a result of the amazement or she was just yawing because of hunger as she never gets filled.

After a few seconds, Adesuwa said “Wait oh. Help me to understand. You didn’t mention that he raped you. You only said that you guys had sex, so where is the tears now coming from? Because I don’t understand.

Just that moment she brought out her phone. Showing them the text she saw in Bernard’s phone after the sex. She had taken a shot of his screen with her phone.

When she was picking up her clothes from the table then, a text had popped out on Bernard’s phone as he was sleeping. The text had read, “Sweet, how are you doing? I will still be expecting you for tonight’s round. Love ya”

That was when she fully realized what Bernard actually meant by “…if you could replace my X without asking Y”. She probably thought he said that then as a compliment, now she knows it was reality – even worse, as this doesn’t even seems like the text was from an ex.

As she showed it to them, they became really confused.

However, they had not even heard from Bernard himself if he really was dating someone else or there was just a mix up somewhere. Perhaps, there might just be another scenario to their own conclusion. Perhaps not.

Episode 6

“Asante! Wake up!” Akosua said as she tapped her.

“What is it?” Asante said as she kept rolling on the bed.

Asante was apparently very tired after the whole saga of last night. She did not even bathe before she slept.

“It’s past six already. Remember you haven’t practiced your part in the presentation.” Akosua said still tapping her to get up.

On hearing ‘presentation’ she jumped up as she ran to her reading table with her eyes still full with rheum probably because of the tank of tears she had poured out the previous night.

The noise resulting from the books on the table as she started reading woke Adesuwa up too. On learning that Akosua was the one who woke Asante up to prepare with the little time she had, Adesuwa said “This is the most intelligible thing I have seen or heard you do since we meant. I never knew you can be this sensible you know?”

As Akosua gave her that funny look, the room began to smell signifying something was burning from the kitchen. “Oh. No wonder is because of food sef you woke up early. This one is finished already!” Adesuwa added and hissed as she got up and opened the other door leading to the bathroom...

“I hope you all are ready for today’s presentation?” Came the tiny voice of Mrs. Njorege in the 1000 capacity Lecture Theatre. Some students could barely hear her from the back. But you dare not make the mistake of talking when she is in the class or you will regret ever coming to life.

Sometime ago, a first-year student had challenged her for not speaking loud enough as they could not hear her from the back. It was later rumoured that, that same student failed the course for about three times. It took the intervention of his father, mother, two siblings, and pregnant aunty who came to beg Mrs. Njorege on his behalf. It is now part of the top ten stories every new student is told as he or she resumes the Department.

Some even say that it’s because of her wickedness that no man has married her again as she divorced the first one just three days after her marriage. Others, say she married the man for just one purpose - the title “Mrs” and left as soon as she got it.

It was such a lecturer that Asante came to her class unprepared! She was potentially a gunner!

After scoring the first group 2/30 in the presentation they had prepared for with over one week, Asante gave up.

“If people who prepared for one week got two marks, then I may just make her give us 0.5 marks or less then.” She whispered out to the hearing of her other group members as she couldn’t hold it.

Abraham the group Leader decided to take her part with his. “All you have to do is hide at the back. Thank God we are twelve. She might not call you if the first three people play their game well.” Abraham said.

Abraham had arrange the group according to their mental capability so as to reduce the probability of calling Asante. He was at the fore-front, followed by Ayo, the trios’ friend and Adesuwa who was a little above average. The remaining nine of them were just having the head of a human but actually the brain of a fish.

Of course even Asante who didn’t prepare well enough had to be before Akosua who was the last. Give Akosua twenty days for the pitch preparation, it’s the same results she will get – zero.

Luck was on their side as she stopped at the fourth fellow and scored them 5/30. Even though that was generally a poor mark, however as long as that presentation was concerned for their class, they were the best. If you get a “D” in Mrs. Njorege’s exam, you are scholar my dear.

Abraham had finally saved Akosua from embarrassment. “Thank you very much Abraham. How can I ever pay you?” Asante asked

“You don’t have to dear. It’s always a pleasure assisting princesses like you.  Meanwhile, let me not forget to say that you are very beautiful and surely deserve more” Abraham said as he smiled.

Just then Asante smiled sheepishly again, this time around not like a goat in her cycle but like one who just found a very fresh-leaf after a long harmattan’s season.

Meanwhile Bernard is still there oh. And now Abraham!

How do you think it will play out? Do well to drop your comments
