17 Year Old Boy Arrested For Coding Malware To Steal Cryptocurrency Wallet Passwords

Recently, Japanese police arrested a 17-year-old boy for creating a malware that steals passwords of cryptocurrency wallets. According to the reports from Bleeping Computer, the malware used to steal the private keys which are used to access the wallets.

If we look around, cryptocurrencies are the recent trends. We have seen hackers are trying different kinds of malware to target cryptocurrency owners and trying to steal their valuable digital coins.

Recently, Japanese police arrested a 17-year-old boy for creating a malware that steals passwords of cryptocurrency wallets. According to the reports from Bleeping Computer, the malware used to steal the private keys which are used to access the wallets.

Right now it’s being investigated that if the boy used the passwords to steal cryptocurrency from the victims. Well, we all know that there is now a huge demand for the apps and websites that allow users to access cryptocurrency-related data in real time.


So, in this case, the boy hid the malware in an application that showed the cryptocurrency data. One of the first places where the malicious app got shared was Monacoin forum. Well, those who don’t know about Monacoin, it’s a relatively unpopular cryptocurrency which is often advertised as the first Japanese digital coin.

The 17-year-old boy has denied the allegations and said that he didn’t create the app for evil purposes. One person has been found to download the app and he discovered that almost 170 Monacoins which is worth $500, went missing from the wallet.
