many other telegram groups where you can get almost any book you want for free. All these are not available on whatsapp.and when you join any book or file sharing group you have access to all the books that has been posted on that group even before you join.
As for the 'many messages and mindless chatter' You can mute and stop telegram from pushing messages to your notification , so you only see messages when you deliberately open the app.
You can use same telegram account in all your devices at the same time, and your messages and files will always be there.No need to use other phone numbers.is the same account that will be accessible on all your devices ,If you are not with your phone and you have telegram on your laptop, you will receive all the messages on your account

The reason you use WhatsApp is that most people already do their chat in WhatsApp. That is d challenge telegram has. But telegram is not a chat tool only. I use it every day and I don't chat with humans. I download all my mp3s from there. I convert my YouTube video to audio from there. I consolidate twits I am interested in there too. It is more than a messaging app. I think they are quite popular in Europe. WhatsApp is chat only which is actually an advantage. The purpose is clearly defined.

Telegram does a looooot more. I always install it with every installation of my phone.

The desktop app also works independent of ur phone connection. I use the saved message feature to transfer files from my laptop to my phone. Cool. Google "telegram bots" . You won't regret what it can do. More bots are created everyday.

Telegram will figure themselves out soon. It will happen through one of its Bot contributors. Communicating their function(s) is sort of a knotty situation.

can't get enough of this app. can get the latest series, movies, magazines, free courses on cooking, programming, etc.
softwares without viruses, chat with memebers of the dark web, create bots, share files with no limit.
i even use it like dropbox, store massive files for later.
the flash games are wonderful. you can even download PC and console games.
you can even search for jobs and get paid in Nigeria. there is a payment company that situated in lekki that have intergrated telegram payment portal for Nigeria.
you can even chat with a personal doctor and buy credit on the app.

apart from popularity, whatsapp is too far to catch up.

You can't just compare What's Whatsapp to Telegram.. Please who does that...
