4 Serious Businesses You Can Do As A Corp Member by collins30: 2:58am On Feb 12, 2018 |
Some people had huge plans of how the 19800 paid by the Federal Government was going to be the solution of all their problems only to get to their service station and realize it is nothing compared to their huge appetites or growing needs. Others have already seen huge money while in school so have formed the mindset that the 19800 was nothing to count on. There are others who flexed their entrepreneurial muscles in school and loved the thrill of business, so doing a business in their service year was a no brainer. Then there are the people who have heavy responsibilities waiting for them at home and they are expected to not only survive but to also send money back home seeing as the parents have taken their hands off him and he is the one to join in the training of his younger ones. Whatever be the case, corpers soon realize that the Federal Government salary will not be enough so they seek out ways of making more money while serving. While we can debate the fact that it is possible to live and thrive on 19800, that is not the subject of this post. We want to unveil 7 businesses that any youth corper can do while serving. 1. Housing Agent Corpers will always have the problem of housing themselves in the new environ they entered and solving that problem is something that has the potential of going you serious money. If you are already serving in a state and have taken out time to know the state and their housing prices, you can easily do this business. All you have to do is liaise with the landlords and make prior arrangements with them before the next batch of corpers enter. When they enter, you paste posters of accommodation or talk to as many as you can about your solution to their problem. If you are able to convert 10 people at 5000 naira profit each, that’s almost your 3 months salary. Downside to this business is that there seems to be an unwritten law that states corpers can’t be agents to corpers seeing as you are both strangers in the land. In anambra, where I served, I didn’t see much of it, though it might be that I didn’t notice or nobody had the idea and tenacity to carry out. Whatever be the case, try it out and see if it works in your state. 2. PRIVATE LESSONS I heard a story of a guy who was particularly a mathematics guru but was posted in the north to teach during his services year. While teaching, parents started meeting him to tutor their kids privately in mathematics so he picked it up as a challenge and bent down to study mathematics so as to know what he will teach. He got good at it and had a lot of clients who loved him and paid him well and while he was discharged, he had received a lot of gifts from his clients. Virually, 80% of corpers will be teachers in secondary schools. If you are given the privilege of being a teacher, nothing stops you from teaching the students privately and making serious extra bucks. People don’t know that private tutoring is a serious cash cow in Nigeria. It can be your only source of income and you will still live fine and when you add it to your portfolio as a teacher, you are making serious money. It works better for subjects like English, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology but not to despair if that is not your area. You can still do this business and make money. It can give you as much as 50k every month. Make friends with the students, be a great teacher by knowing what you teach, meet their parents and talk it over with them. They will be glad that a young guy or girl is trying to make something out of his life and not just pressing phone. 3. PRODUCT TRADE I had intentions of doing this but didn’t really have the time to do it as I had other money projects I was working on. Most people will be thrown very far away from their normal habitat and culture to a place they have never known or gone to before, instead of whining and complaining, you can use it to your advantage. You can buy goods that are cheap in your area and sell it for a huge amount of money in your new environ as it will be scarce and costly. It involves some real planning and strategy but it works and people have done it. You can buy palm oil in the east and sell in the north. You can buy yam from benue and sell in bayelsa or any place you are. You can buy cheap stuffs from Lagos or Onitsha and sell in costlier parts of the country like Abuja or Port Harcourt. You get the point. It has a lot of risks like transportation and all other risks of selling physical products like market penetration but if you plan well, you can do it and completely ditch your salary. 4. INTERNET BUSINESS The internet rocks right now and there is much work you can do on the internet to make you money as as a side hustle. There are emerging jobs like content development, social media management, social media marketing, mini importation or these that you can do and make serious money on the side so much so that you no longer need for your salary. Click on this link to get a free guide on internet businesses you can do m.me/bizworldafrica It is necessary that we youths understand that our destiny lies in our hands. While we can complain and post on social media about how the government can increase the salary, we can do something with our lives. This post was made so that you can do much more with your life and make so much money that you get to forget about the government salary and when your mates are anxiously waiting and crying for government to pay every month, you are living large and smiling to the bank always.
