There's been lots of speculation that SAF will finally retire next season 2010/2011 (he'll clock 70 years in 2011 ). I want us to objectively assess who the ideal candidate would be . I strongly suggest Rafa Benitez (current Livepool manager) Reason ? - He'll add some latin flavour to a somewhat dour United team What do you think? |

Any English coach won any trophy in Europe lately? Benitez won 2 back to back |
Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by illusion2: 4:36pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
Emperoh: Neither has any ENGLISH manager in 17 attempts (since the EPL started ) Emperoh: Harry tho' very talented is still an F.A cup level coach(much like your Steve McClaren). . . Roy Hodgson is the best England has to offer for now |
Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by bgees(m): 4:36pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
Benitez is an excellent manager, but little mistakes here and there and over-thinking are his major problems. he is too uptight, too rigid. tkb417: u don fk up. |
Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by bgees(m): 4:38pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
Emperoh: and how many attempts did it take your dear old Alex Ferguson? |

Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by Nobody: 4:50pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
illusion2:And he ended up where? And what is his follow-up?Presently scrapping to play in Europe next season. He isn't fit to wash the United's player's dirty jerseys. dayokanu:And he hasn't won anything since 2006.Arsene Wenger's junior bros.During that time,Harry Redknapp at least won the FA Cup. illusion2:And that makes Benitez better? After 6 seasons, his best is one second-place finish? He's not fit to be OT groundsman |

Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by chic2pimp(m): 5:06pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
Emperoh: Harry Redknapp ko Barry White ni. Let Shekpeknapp win 2 la liga tiles, one champions lge and one Uefa cup first then get back to moi. Winning F.a Cups and Carling Cups is a far as harry's limited managerial skills would take him. |
Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by Nobody: 5:14pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
@chic2pimp, Benitez has done nothing with a big club like Liverpool after spending so much. |
Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by tkb417(m): 5:16pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
chic2pimp:he'll win all those if he coaches Liverpool or do you expect him to win with Pompey or what? he just chased Pool outta the top 4 this season |

Re: Rafa Benitez to Succeed Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson? by Jairzinho(m): 5:44pm On Apr 22, 2010 |
I think the question of who should succeed Alex depends on the long term plan of the club. If they plan to bring the hugely successful reign of AF to a close & attempt to rebuild another dynasty like Alex did from scratch, . . . . .then they could go for mid of the range coaches with good potential for the long term like,Roy Keane tho I doubt he has the temperament for this ,Steve Bruce , Steve McClaren & Mark Hughes all have worked with Alex at MU at one time or the other ! However, I doubt the fans will be ready to go 2 or 3 seasons w/out titles. . .hence the 2nd option- which would entail bringing in an already successful confident & experienced Mgr like Mourinho,Capello, del Bosque. . . . but this would obviously be for the short run . . .as these guys obviously have their own plans for the mid & long term future. Capello,Del Bosque want to retire, Mourinho wants to be the 1st to win the Championship in Portugal, England,Italy &Spain and ultimately manage his country. . . So it really depends on what the club & its debtor-owners want |
