(shaykh ibn uthaymeen asked a question in a gathering where he was teaching the people) A man gave sadaqah with dirham in the last ten days of Ramadan and another with dirham in the last ten days of dhul hijjah which of it is better?

(A man in the gathering says) The first the one (that gave his) in Ramadan and (the shaykh responds) ok, (another man in the gathering says) the second the one (that gave his) in the last ten days of dhul hijjah, (the shaykh responds) OK as well ،

(Then the shaykh says)

Two men are in dispute amongst us now

The first says giving sadaqah in the last ten days of Ramadan (is better) and the second says giving sadaqah in the last ten days of dhul hijjah(is better)

To whom do we return?

(Allaah says) if you dispute in any thing then take the issue to who? To Allaah and the messenger

We took the issue to the messenger and we found out that he says

There are no days in which good deeds are done in them that Allaah loves more than these days i.e the last ten days of dhul hijjah

So which of them is correct?

(Definitely) the one who said the one who gave sadaqah in the last ten days of dhul hijjah is better, do you hear me oh my brother? May Allaah bless you.

Good, a man prays two raka'ahs in the last ten days of Ramadan and another prays two raka'ahs in the last ten days of dhul hijjah

Which is better? The second or the first?

The second

WAllaahi this is strange to the awwaam(those who are not scholars), strange to the awwaam.

That how do make the good deed done in the last ten days of dhul hijjah better than the deed done in the last ten days of Ramadan?!

This is strange to the awwaam

But not strange to the people of knowledge

For this reason I say

Definitely it is compulsory on the people of knowledge to clarify to the aammah(singular of awwaam)

That the good deed done in the last ten days of dhul hijjah is more beloved to Allaah then the deed done in any time be whatever time it is..

This is unknown to the awwaam because they are are not reminded about it except a few times
