Breaking News: BSU Students Protest: Management Close Down School Indefinitely

BSU (Benue State University) Makurdi authorities have directed all students to vacate the campus latest 6 pm today. A statement by the school’s management, as announced over the state-owned radio station, Radio Benue says the decision was reached after a review of the security situation on campus.

It claims that some criminal elements have infiltrated the hostels and expressed regret that the indefinite closure will adversely affect law-abiding students and the ongoing second-semester examination.

A discussion with a senior lecturer and some of the institution reveals that BSU management had announced a NO FEES PAYMENT, NO EXAMINATION POLICY which the students rejected insisting that their parents were yet to be paid by the government nor do they have any other means of paying up their tuition.

The Non-Academic Staff under the NASUU are already on strike over nonpayment of salaries backlog and high deductions in January salaries.

Benue, highly regarded as a farming state being the food basket of the nation, is, however, a civil service dominated place where unabated killings on citizens by suspected Fulani herdsmen is on the rise and citizens live in naked fear.
