You mean the same Germany that has seen electricity rates increased because of abandoning coal and closing nuclear reactors (the safest, reliable and most efficient renewable power source)? https://www.reuters.com/article/germany-electricity-retail/german-household-power-prices-at-record-high-verivox-idUSL8N1MZ30X

Nigeria as a developing nation that requires rapid industrialisation does not need unreliable sources of energy such as solar, wind or biomass. China, India, Indonesia etc. are rapidly constructing coal, thermal and nuclear plants daily, and yet you desire Africa's most populated nation to generate enough power for her citizens? undecided
mtscheeew you de mind all these propagandized nairalander tree huggers with unrealistic dreams

...and Nwanna Emeka offor would be there looking for customers to rip off through EEDC while his mates are investing.

Anybody that knows him should tell him that in as much as he is holding down Geometric from working in Aba, EEDC will continue to be a disaster.

Hmm. Hope you are real. Thanks for doing the job of the government

Where are you from sef?

Didn't you read that he invested $350m into the Power sector? It's a business venture. How is he doing the work of Government?

Who is fooling who?

You better return the stolen funds and payments received without any service, plus all the corruption money in your custody and stop fooling yourself

It's a shame that the people killing this country are the ones shouting their own praises. What an irony !

who hol you from investing
na dem say make you chop all with all ten finger

That's the problem with the typical nairalander. How do you know I have no investment ? please stop making lowly assumptions of people you don't know. Because you have no reasonable investment doesn't mean others can't have .

Bro, people pay big money in this country without seeing 1kw a month and yet the tariff plan for electric is N25 per Kwh.

And again, how is renewable energy not reliable?
Blackout since yesterday and you feel the steam/gas turbines are more reliable?

Nigeria doesn't require renewable energy to power her industry industries, offices, businesses and other energy intensive services. I read in the Guardian 2012 thereabouts where it was stated that to generate 2000MW, the size of Abuja is needed. What sort of renewable energy is that?

Maybe on personal/home use, but not commercial or industrial. China that is investing in two coal power plants is not foolish. The only reasonable renewable source for industrial use is nuclear power. Japan experienced energy costs when she abandoned nuclear for thermal as a result of the Fukushima crises. Guess what? After the increase in electricity prices, they resorted to restart the closed nuclear reactors. That's the third biggest economy globally.

You must be an engineering grad, student or a tech oriented fellow.

School them...

Chemical engineer here. but that's not the issue here. there are ways of ensuring we have not just power but sustainable source of it. fossil fuels isn't the answer. renewables it is; biomass, solar, tidal waves, etc.

the FG had made several committments to renewables and have even disbursed several monies in that regard. but believe me my brother, NOTHING has been said about the project or monies. check the National Energy policy right from Obasanjo regime when this was incorporated into the energy reforms. monies are still being disbursed in that aspect but there's no evidence of expenditure in that regards. God help us all

how many MW can you generate from renewable energy?

way more than what Nigeria needs daily to power her industries, SMEs, homes and etc. we also have the raw materials. Biomass energy alone can provide sufficient source of MW for the Vegetation areas.

Wind and Solar energy for the Northern area and dry seasons. Channeling proper drainage system to generate power from rain water after a fall during the rainy period.

sir there are endless of them available for us as a country. Question is can we as a country commit to Renewable energy like Germany, Poland, Sweden, etc.

like a typical nairalander you assume i'm talking to you personally
. How do you know I have no investment ?
this is sign of guilty conscience
cos investor will know that with $250 million equity you can easily get $350million loan
. please stop making lowly assumptions of people you don't know.
same to you as explained above
.Because you have no reasonable investment doesn't mean others can't have .
you just made a hypocritical lowly assumption
not a good sign of a supposed investor

So, one can't source investment for a business venture anymore?

Is it about his net worth? He sure has sufficient asset that can allow him access to more funds.
