DaGrin RIP.

Any lessons learnt from this young man's demise? Blame it on the government if you like, blame it on the doctors, blame it on the hospitals, we are all bitter, but then, in every sad situation, we pick one or two lessons, what have you learnt?

I think i need to clarify a point here, people die everyday and life just goes on. But ithink we have to take the issue of driving and drinking very seriously. Dont get wrong i drink almost everyday, but what am saying if you have to drink dont drive and if you have to drive dont drink. When I go to a club and my tipsy I dont leave the club till the morning. Anyway life goes. Rest In Peace

@MissyB I'm sorry to assume your picture just make me think you may be yoruba. Anyway that doesn't matter whatever tribe or ethnic origin we are is not really an issue.

My lesson learnt from the death of someone close to me (my brother):

Life is short. Make the best of it while you are alive. In the process, touch the life of someone near you for good. Always say how much people mean to you while they are alive cos tomorrow might just be too late.

I personally didn't really learn anything from his death. Sorry. But, I think it bears repeating that drinking and driving isn't worth the potential risks.

I didnt really learn anything but lemmi emphasize
1. DONT DRINK AND DRIVE (if he was drunk)- better him dead then an innocent person
2. Dont drive around mainland 3 am- that was pretty dumb
3. Dont speed- i never was the type to speed in the night anyway.

anyway im tired of talking about him dying w/e

4 the youths.
speeding does not make your ride superior on the highway, neither those it express d luv u have 4 it, always bcareful. Drive 2 drive again,
n when u drink dont drive, suspend ur movement when u find urself drunk or tipsy, or tell a capable friend 2 drive u home. .
Life is too short use it wisely when u still have it.
caution is 4 the living
Re: Any Lessons Learnt From Dagrin's Death? Youngsters, Celebrities, Naija Hip Hop by Nobody: 10:26am On Apr 25, 2010
Don't drive if you've had a drink, even a little one. It's hard to predict how even a small bottle of beer could affect your system. Pushing a large family car to its limits is absolutely dumb too - a Nissan Maxima's not designed as a handling car, and the limits will be reached much earlier than in a more nimble, and smaller car.

It's best to satisfy your need for speed in a more controlled environment, or even a very little used road, if you can't find a track to exploit your car's potential.

what do you mean??

there are no lessons to learn from his death, what kind of talk is that??

the poor dudes life was cut short

theres no one to blame- the drunk driving were rumours, speedin, rumours, none of u were there the night of the accident

when did they start breathalizing coma patients in nigeria?? pls people try not to spread rumours and leave a little dignity to his family

death is exagerated- oboi i cannot believe people utter such words- how would u feel if ur relative died and someone said that to you??

i find this post quite disrespectful

^^^ Ayetty, I lost my mum to a drink-driver, when I was just nineteen, so I know what it feels like.

The thread asks what lessons were learnt from this young mans death, and I stated mine. The same questions were asked, when my mum's life was cut short. It's not about being respectful or disrespectful, but saying things as you see them. If there are no lessons to be learned from Da Grin's death, then all I can say is what a waste! Much as we'd like to believe otherwise, there are always lessons to be learnt from misfortunes, and that includes death.

When Missy B said his death's been exaggerated, I can see where she's coming from. People die every day, but life goes on, did you expect the world to come to a standstill? That's the point she's making. Can you honestly say no Nairalander's had a death in the family this year? And how many of them bemoaned the passing of their loved ones as much as this young man's? That's where the exaggeration comes in!
Re: Any Lessons Learnt From Dagrin's Death? Youngsters, Celebrities, Naija Hip Hop by ayettymama(f): 4:09pm On Apr 25, 2010
I understand what your saying, i really do- but it implies dagrin was drunk- its a very malicious rumour thats been spread, i heard its even untrue- thats the only problem, nobody asked the world to standstil, people are simply mourning his death- i have lost a family member its not a wonderful thing- i would be double upset if someone told me im exagerating, or worst still tried to digrace him after death- its disgusting!!

if theres any lesson to be learnt its about his life- it couldve been anyone anywhere, if he was drunk, or speeding, or high on may j then i'd understand- but he wasnt, but no matter what i say people will still talk anywho- i just thot i should point it out

Why don't You drink and drive too or have the mentality that Everyone lives forever
since You haven't learnt nuffin from his death

Can You prove that he wasn't drunk?

Yes, I said his death is exaggerated.
No disrespect to him [The dead] and I owe no apology to any of his ''mourners''.  cool

If it were a madman, a child suffering from kwashiorkor, a beggar or a 'common person',
would You all create millions of threads just to mourn the person? Why is it that when a star dies everyone is hitting their head on the wall and when it's the common man, the best he/his family get from strangers is ''Sorry''? What makes DaGrin's death different from that of a love-peddler? Why the false cry, when after 2 months You all will practically forget he ever existed unless You hear his song? Do You want me to dig out some threads on the death of some Nigerians and let's count how many of these threads You posted on just to show how sorry You are? What's with the make-believe?

People Die everyday, it's not Fair on their Loved ones but people Die. People must Die.

The self acclaimed AKOGUN! couldn't win the battle against death likewise everyone of us. Come to think of it, if a whole Michael Jackson can die which celebrity won't?
Re: Any Lessons Learnt From Dagrin's Death? Youngsters, Celebrities, Naija Hip Hop by Nobody: 8:35pm On Apr 25, 2010
Very well said, Missy B and Cute Tj.

No one's rejoicing in the death of Da Grin, it just gets a bit tiresome when every thread's full of people shouting down those that speak their minds, regarding the death.

We'll all die someday, no one's immortal. I think you should also respect Da Grin - I believe in one of his songs, he said no one should cry for him? Well, if respect is a priority here, then respect his wishes!

Missy B, I will like to disagree with you.He is STAR and get to into your head.Other people die and who d hell know them.If you know them how many people know them.Da Grins was well Known and I wonder if you do not understand yoruba why reply this thread since you know he speak Yoruba, He the MADman or other people who died a celebrity and pleae I want u to know that you owe him an apology for saying exaggerated, becos when MJ died he went with 5 souls and you can google that.
If you say u do not know him lots of people do, I mean check Google for crying out loud, Google is really your friend. He is the 25th most search Word on Google for the pass 4 days and he is the most featured artist in Nigeria for the Past Six Month, So tell me why would he not be celebrated after his death and me think the Nigerian Police contributed to his death also, Anyways he's Gone, We are going to miss him so much even if you aint gonna miss him, He came and Saw and never really conquerred.
He was suppose to be a Super star and though he is young but his word are very matured compared to our ruler and you guys you try understand his language , Afterall JayZ sings in his own Language and Americans don't speak English Language,

Alfchye, you're rambling, and making little sense.

No one owes anyone an apology here. Star status has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

The point is, everyone has a right to life, celebrity or common man. The fact is many people are wailing at Da Grin's death, when in fact many have lost relatives this year, yet showed less emotion. Let the dead rest in peace, regardless of if that person's a superstar or beggar. Unless you're saying a superstar has more right to live than a pauper? Are you saying only those that understand Yoruba should respond to this thread? You're not making any sense!

I too had never heard of Da Grin till his death. The fact I never knew him makes no odds - it doesn't matter how popular he was, he's still a still a human, (or was) rest his soul. No one said anything about not missing him, though how can one miss someone they've never met? His music will still live on, so you won't miss that either.

And lastly, if American's don't speak English, what on earth do they speak? Jeeze, please don't tell me they speak American? Talk about being ignorant!

Alfchye, just admit you're wrong. Americans speak English - it may be with an American slant, but it's still English. There are different variations of English, but it's still called English, unless you're going to tell me otherwise?

So, tell me what American's speak, if not English? Tut-tut.

We're not talking about Pidgin, we're talking about English. If you want to bring the slang arguement into this, at least use your brain first! Slangs are everywhere, not just the United States. The British too have slangs, but we're talking about Regular English!

Your brain's not grasping much, is it? Is this a Monday thing, or are you always like this? Do you have a block on basic comprehension?
