Entertainment fans in Nigeria and probably Africa, are set for a heart breaking news as information reaching us at naijmobile.com shows that the 2018 edition of Nigeria’s most authentic Awards for pop music and urbane culture, “The Headies” has been postponed indefinitely.
while there have been no official statement from Hip Hop World Magazine who are organisers of the award, there have also be no direct reason as to why the event was postponed. However according to a very reliable source who wants to be anonymous, the event was postponed as a result of another seeming national or global event, the wedding ceremony of Dangote’s daughter.
naijmobile.com had reported earlier that the Headies award had been scheduled for March 24 this year. The information was made known by the Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun, who noted that the event will return to Quarter 1 as it was when it was first held.
For the past couple of years, the ceremony had taken place around December, with the nominations list released in the first week of November, but the 2018 edition of the Headies was said to have been moved to March 2018 — the same time it held when they first launched.
The organisers stated that this was to give room for new categories to reflect the realities of today’s music and entertainment industry. The new categories are 'Headies Viewers' Choice', 'Industry Brand Supporter', 'Best Performer', and 'Best Songwriter'.
naijmobile.com also reported earlier this month that all was set for the mother of all weddings in Nigeria. Come March 2018, Fatima Dangote, daughter of Aliko Dangote will be joined to her heartthrob, Jamil Abubakar, the son of former Inspector General of police, Mohammed Abubakar.
