Announcing that you are a lawyer doesn't change much my learned associate. We do not need to wear our leanings, callings and professions on our sleeves.

I assure you that viewed from a very a very objective standpoint, the case will tip in favour of Cars 45.

I assure you that the lady victim would have been soundly advised against legalising the matter.

Again this was legit but obviously morally unsound.

Kelvin30286063:

I'm a lawyer and I stand here to tell you categorically that you are wrong.
Misinformation and attempt to fraudulently take above the value of a product by hiding the original value is a crime under the constitution of Nigeria and they can loss their license and pay a huge compensation for it.
If the op is interested, he or she should drag them to court and he/she will surely win the case.
But before that, have the receipt of purchase with you, have the vehicle condition catalog given to you before purchase and finally, get in touch with the new owner and let him be on your side on the condition of the car. If your story tallies with his own, you are on the right course to win.
Remember to tell the court that you spent over 1m trying to make the car work before you returned it. grin
Also remember all your dates and figures, date of purchase, date of return, date that new owner purchased. Don't get to court and be doing ehmmm when they ask you question.

I am sharing this experience not because I did everything right, considering Nigerians dubious tendency we shouldn't have left any stone unturn.
But I am sharing this because I know they work on people psychology and because it is a big company it is easier to become their victim. Like I stated I am sharing this experience to alert other people interested in patronizing this people.
2 weeks after we sold to them. A man called dh, ( I dont know how he got his number) he had just bought the same car from cars45 and he was calling to ask questions, because just a day after buying. The car issue seems unending. He told us he paid 1.4.
So me sharing this experience is benevolence so others will learn. Please shine your eyes!!!!

At the very least you should have run YOUR own scans in the vehicle. The very least.

What legit auto salesperson wouldn't permit a buyer to at least start and drive the vehicle? Scoff

Unfortunately this experience was as a result of a rather naive buyer and a dubious, shady salesperson.

The difference here would be that the buyer had the best intentions and the seller had the exact opposite.

I apologise for your experience. There has to be a way to gain a greater audience for this experience. If it's happened once, then it's happened dozens of times.

I wouldnt say its as a result of a naive buyer more like it's as a result of a scum of the earth seller. (The buyer shouldnt be faulted AT ALL)
How is everyone supposed to be a savvy car person? The seller should be honest and transparent but i guess that's alien to a lot of people in nigeria.
I'm glad the company is put on blast. Thank you to the OP who shared his experience. I'm blacklisting Car45 now.

Best way to buy a locally used car is from a previous user. There you will get to know how it is.

pls are the reports reliable? I mean the diagnosis displayed on their site showing green for good condition, red for bad condition and needs fixing.

I would need someone who can assist with those report analysis on their cost and necessary parts that need attention.

NB:
Additionally, what other cars are cheap to maintain and good for Uber n taxify business?
Is Kia good? What about Suzuki?

My budget of 400k can only get me a car on cars45. (I must test-drive it o, else no biz).

They won't allow you test-drive

It can't be all bad. Business looks good for the guys. More branches springing up every day and everywhere.

I maintain that they are a useful outlet to dispose of cars when in need of emergency funds. They must be useful to some folks one way or another.

Pls note that their business model is skewed in favour of desperate car owners looking to sell off as soon as possible in order to meet some emergency or exigency.

May you never be in sudden and need for cash for a life threatening situation. You will see these guys as a Messiah of sorts.

Car45 is a terrible company .Around December 2018 l wanted to sell my 08 Toyota camry and took it to their office in jabi ,Abuja and they did the scan like provfessional ,they drove the car round and verified all the documents for about four hours and put it on live auction and they bidded #1,050millions and it was time to pay they it is not my name that was in the paper because l have changed the nsme from the person l bought it from . I was not using the car at all because l have others l just parked it and was starting the engine every morning . I renewed the paper and did change of name in february 2019 and went back and they did the same check
Re: How Cars 45 Ripped Us Off by kerriman: 9:26am On Apr 03, 2020
I met the ssme engineer and he told the report is the ssme as the previous one but when bidded for the car thr highest was #759,000 . I politely collected my documents and left dissapointed . Luckily l displayed the car not far from my house and sold it the following week at #1.3m . The annoying they do when you take your car there they bid ridiculous low price abd when you want to buy they sell probkematic car at exorbitant price to you.

One of the things that I find very funny is that we fail to get the picture of the setup. They buy the car as it is, that is,as the seller brought it to them. No modifications, just trusting in their ability to sell the junks that we have turned our cars into. If the car you are selling is half dead to be on the road, then the buyer is expecting a no issue naija used car, then clap for yourselves.

Then they should sell at ' junk figures'....... Why attempt to sell junk at showroom prices?.....
