Kindly assist in providing legal opinion on the subject matter. A commercial Bank in Nigeria wrote a guarantor giving him 14days notice to offset the indebtedness of his former staff running into N800,000.
The former employee was employed by the bank in year 2010 and he was required to get a professional to sign his Employment bond at the point of entry.The guy took a retail loan from the Bank and he used his monthly salary as collateral and the bank was debiting his salary account for the monthly repayment.
However, the guy got his employment terminated in year 2013 and couldn't offset the remaining balance.
Just yesterday, the man that signed the employment bond told me he received a letter giving him 14days notice to offset the staff loan balance without which the bank will be left with no other option than to take legal action against him.
This man maintained that he did not sign guarantee for a staff loan but just a bond which stipulate that if a staff is found wanting in the course of discharging his duties e.g fraud related cases, the guarantor will be held liable.
Please what steps can the man take to exonerate himself from this?

let him get a lawyer to write the bank informing the he only sign the bond not he loan issue
