Former World No 1 Serena Williams will be aiming to return to the top of the WTA rankings as she competes alongside other world class female tennis players for the Tie Break Tens event at Madison Square Garden in New York on 5th March 2018.

The 23 Grand Slam winners was not ranked in the February WTA rankings as she had not featured much in any competition this year since she gave birth to her first baby.

Serena Williams will be competing against her Olympic gold medal-winning sister Venus Williams, as well as the winner of the recent Dubai Duty Free Championships, Elina Svitolina, big-hitting American Coco Vandeweghe, Sorana Cirstea from Romania, China’s Zhang Shuai, former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli, and Daniela Hantuchova.

The knock out format game means there will be only one winner who will walk away with a staggering US$250,000 and the coveted Tie Break Tens trophy.The all-women event will be the first time a Tie Break Tens tournament will be held in the United States and follows successful events in London, Vienna, Madrid and Melbourne Record
