If you are in the Diaspora and you plan to build a property here in Lagos, here are a few tips that will help you.


1 - Form a core project team. This team should consist of ONLY professionals – land surveyor, architect, lawyer, engineer etc.

2- Try as much as possible to know how much things cost before sending money but don’t be too tight-fisted.

3 - Make video calls when speaking with any member of your project team working on site. This allows you to see things for yourself.

4 - Have someone outside your core project team monitor your project. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Be willing to pay this person. This person’s duty is to visit your site often, verify the cost of building materials (if necessary) and give you a report on what is happening. This person can also help you verify some of the land documents you receive from your core project team.
