Not true, I have also had a similar experience where a company contacted me via her recruitment manager, only refused the offer cos of proximity of said company to my location. Sometimes a positive mindset works wonder, not all tree bear bad fruits.

But the Oga of the worker.... Is he not an entrepreneur? Abi you think Ogas are some random ambivalent set of something that just deposit money in your account?

This is very true.

My colleague at work has actually rejected 2 offers from HR staff via LinkedIn.

In my opinion, if a job seeker isn't on LinkedIn, I wonder whether he/she is serious in his/her job search. There were very "confidential" job openings advertised by HR personnel where I wanted to tag someone, only to discover the person isn't even online.

It's even more special when you go through your feed after a week and see a summary of the companies following you.

Nigerian graduates, stay woke.

Hi there and hope we are all having a good weekend.

It's not my intention to reveal too much about my professional life, but if doing so will help someone, then it's not a bad thing.

Many people here know me as a recruiter and the web manager for Careersome. But aside that, I have a full-time job, working as a fullstack engineer and growing my career in that field.
Yes, you're right. I got my current job through LinkedIn, truth is I can count the number of offers I have gotten through LinkedIn

As a career enthusiast and consultant, I do a lot of career research and self study to get enough information to talk about career stuffs and guide people. I also apply the things I've learnt to my own career. In doing this, I've learnt that LinkedIn is a very powerful tool that no serious job seeker or career person should neglect, even if you have a good paying job.

You know I keep my LinkedIn profile updated and any new skill I learn, I put it there. And of recent, I've been getting a lot of messages like this" You appeared in 42 searches this week

You were found by people from these companies"

The annoying thing is that these companies, not just Nigerian companies, keep viewing my profile and do not contact me.

But that changed this week when the representative of a top financial company messaged me with a job description. Almost begging me to apply and even gave me his phone number to call him if I wish to speak.

Regrettably, I did not apply for the job because they wanted a Neymar and I know deep down within that am still an Mbappé. And also because I am not ready to leave my present job.

But the story here is that employers are seriously looking for the right candidates to engage. And LinkedIn is one of the tools they are using to search for these candidates

You're very correct as a matter of fact 100% accuracy has been measured in your info, I have had a similar case to yours, in a particular month, I had about 30 LinkedIn views both local and foreign companies but the local was more, some people even hide their LinkedIn identity and view as a LinkedIn member but at the end I was never contacted, even my ex boss at work always search for applicant thru LinkedIn, I can confess to that LinkedIn is a powerful tool to get people employed, one will just be wondering that I never applied for such post, how come I was contacted, ensure you build your LinkedIn profile and activate a premium account today so that you get 1st hand job post immediately they are advertised, if you however fail to activate a premium account they you will always get job post after like a month they have expired

You are wrong. My last three jobs were from LinkedIn. I have turned town a few others since my last job that I am currently on. It so happens that after I read, people are looking at you on LinkedIn, within days, i receive mails through the box and on a few occasions calls. They almost always attach a JD once there is a contact with me

LinkedIn actually presents such opportunities as I have witnessed in searches my profile came up on. The only problem is idle profiles do not get much exposure. Its not about updating alone, active contribution to posts, groups and causes also go a long way.

It's funny how 10 lucky folks out of 1000 who are contacted will use themselves as a testimony like everyone else will get a job through LinkedIn. The truth of the matter is that the ROOT problem is still there; THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH JOBS TO GO ROUND EVERYBODY. If we all join LinkedIn MANY people still wouldn't be contacted.

Lol, I am a student in the US. I was contacted by a Google recruiter last week for an internship just two days after I updated my LinkedIn profile and made it clear that I am seeking a Summer internship position. Trust me, Google is one company everyone respect here in the states and across the world. Adding Google to your resume will more or less guarantee you an internship in other top companies (in future).

He sent me a message on LinkedIn and afterward emailed me directly requesting me to send him my updated resume, unofficial transcript, and some other details. I am currently in the project matching stage.

You're right and this isn't a new thing. Was contacted all the way from South Africa by the HR of one of the companies there to interview for a position in their Nigerian subsidiary. I missed out on that cos of work sha.

Was contacted by another investment bank in Nigeria for another senior role, on same LinkedIn but sadly found out I wasn't the right fit after seeing the job descriptions.

A third one I got, I couldn't make it to the interview as I was out of the country hence I referred it to a colleague of mine instead.

It's just one of those ways that recruiters can put a face to the CV I guess. Besides most recruiters alreadg have what they are looking for, hence why one's name or profile would appear when they search for those key words.

Success of business is by some luck too
Forget all that talk about the how to be successful entrepreneur. There are people who are more dexterous in what they do but are less successful in business. Time and chance happens. Many factors play parts in the outcome of ventures
