1.6 million fighting for how many Tertiary-Institution sloths?

Except we vote in leaders that understands grassroot problem, we will never move forward as a nation.
When I talk about grassroot understanding, I'm not referring to a first lady who fries Akara only on campaigns.

But how can we move forward when one tribe votes because it's their brother and another votes based on a degraded VP post.
The situation of the country is in shambles yet the government is supported by some on tribal lines rather than performance.

Actually, there is nothing wrong if 1.6m candidates wants to write JAMB. Your submission presupposes that every candidate have a right to be admitted, which is a wrong premise. Yes they have the right to write the exams, but they need to do the hard work to pass. You cannot stop people from aspiring to get admitted into universities, what you can regulate is their meeting the requisite standard.

Secondly, the "grass root" knowledge you refer to is not rocket science. A key problem with us in Nigeria is this wrong notion that everybody must go through the University or else you will be a failure in life(emphasis mine). We have lots of other avenues to means of livelihood i.e. the skill development institutions and other institution of "unconventional" learning. We have left these "industry-clusters" largely under-explored and under-exploited. We have mechanics, plumbers, builders and other artisanal education that have been left in the hands of uneducated and unexposed people. A lot of money is made in these areas.

Unfortunately many people struggle to get into universities either out of ignorance (wrong information and perception) or social stigma, when they stand to make more money and derive more pleasure if they had gone into the other unconventional forms of higher learning

What I see is a country whose only way to success is through the university. We must get to a stage where going to university is a choice. Besides, how many university graduates are successful sef.
So many people have no business with universities, but you know,,, stigma, if they don't go

I am absolutely with you on this

Your second point is exactly what I'm saying. Have we thought about online schooling (just a quick thought)
If lots of real grassroot politicians were in the Senate or lower house, you can imagine the type of laws that would have shaped the country by now. Unfortunately our mentality ain't aligned in this country. I sincerely don't mind if one tribe rules forever as long as that tribe delivers the best year in year out.
