Property owners across highbrow areas in Lagos State particularly those in Banana Island and Lekki axis of the state may not be opportune to be safe haven after April 1 which Federal Government declared that it would begin clampdown on tax evaders, the sign of which the government displayed by extending its probe of suspected tax evaders with properties in highbrow areas of Lagos and Abuja.

It would be recalled that the government had in July, 2017, granted tax payers a nine month grace to regularise their tax status under the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS).

However, sources from authority informed newsmen on Monday in Abuja, that government through its data mining programme tagged “Project Lighthouse’’ had received documents on property owners across the country from state governments.
