BRIEF HISTORY
The Nigerian defence academy was established in 1964
after Nigeria fully accomplished the status of both an
independent and a Republican state and the institution
that was formerly known as the Nigerian military training
college(NMTC) was established in order for it to train
officer-cadets that will meet up with the need of the
Nigerian armed forces. At it inception, the institution
wasn't not offering degree programmes until 1985 and
the institution main mandate is the 5 years training of
eligible officer-cadets.

Students life and relationships
The Nigerian defence academy in kaduna is one of the
conducive places for learning in Nigerian with it well
spread-out surrounding. it undergraduate students are
generally addressed as cadets/officers cadet though
there exist other inhouse ways of address.
The students security and up-keep here is a priority to
the institution as students are well catered for, fed,
accommodated and others, little wonder why thousands
of Nigerian school leavers scramble for a place here in
the institution but nonetheless, since the institution
combine both military and academic activities, the
training is something worth looking into as students are
taught endurance and to go beyond their strength, denied
freedom and movement, denied their own resting hours
etc.
And also the student relationship here is average as
students relate base on their classes/equals/ranks/
termers e.g you are trained on teamship mostly with
your coursemates as it is very difficult to relate with your
superior cadet except there exist some forms of
relationship between the individuals involve in such
relationships.

Academics and Research
Academic and research activities are very well encourage
by the institution as students are groom to be very good
scholars.
Cadets at the institution are mandatorily mandated to
take additional military courses apart from those
assigned by NUC to their respective courses of study and
deserving meritorious students are usually flown abroad
to other world renowned military academies to complete
their training.

Admission Processes
The admission processes for the institution usually
commence with it advertorials display on major national
media, dailies and online sources and it usually
commence in the month of October, each year.

Applicants
Various criterias for admission are usually contained in
the advertorials to ensure only those who are eligible
apply and thereafter, applicants are oblige to write Joint
Admission and Matriculation Board exams and only
those who made their cut-off do proceed to the next
level.
Thereafter the NDA entrance examination is conducted to
further eliminate/reduce the number of applicants due
for admission. History has it that this stage in the
institution admission processes is the deadliest as
applicants totaling 35000 maybe reduce to 3500.

Candidates
Those who passed the institution examination are
automatically bestowed with the title "candidates" and a
cadet file opened on their behalf. They are from here
invited by the institution for a 3-week further screening
and interview session upon which the final admission list
is released.

Conclusion : The Nigerian defence academy as located in
kaduna is a great institution headed by Major General A.
Oyebade. It admission processes are very stringent and
those who are able to scale through do usually suffer
and enjoy the bad and good of the institution before they
are commission into their respective services of the
armed forces. Therefore This Institution Is
Recommended By AdmissionTalk To Suitably and
Qualified Admission-seekers.
